1 Attachment(s) Got these for £2 each in Sainsbury’s. Still not been able to find a five pound American Werewolf in London, but Better Watch Out will be a good one to add to my Christmas repertoire. And here’s an effing bombshell - the assistant in Sainsbury’s told me that Sainsbury’s stores are getting rid of their Dvd/blu ray and games media sections, and are only keeping the books. I asked why and she said she didn’t know but she supposed that they just weren’t selling enough stock. I was thinking about it afterwards and I suppose most Sainsbury’s stores now have an Argos in them which will take care of their games’ sales. Dvd and blu are a goner for them though. And of course I asked if there’ll be any decent sales coming up, but she said the stock is all being returned to the supplier - she was in the process of removing them from the shelves as I was speaking to her. They've always wanted to get rid of physical media though. They removed it from their website a long time ago. Better Watch Out is a lot of fun. Try and save it till next Christmas and enjoy! |
^ Funny enough, I was in my Tesco today and it's all been moved around. When I found it, the DVD/Blu ray section is almost gone. Reduced to two racks when it used to be a whole isle. No Blu rays at all only old DVDs, Disney films. |

The recent AC/DC album sold 50k physical copies in it's first week. Seeing as HMV was shut for a month i'm thinking a large share of those must have been sold via supermarkets as well as online. |

2 Attachment(s) 2 new this week. After watching the Portmanteau doc Tales of the uncanny by Severin which i really enjoyed, some interviewees mentioned the Dan Curtis / Richard Matheson tv film Dead of night which looked good. So i also decided to grab Trilogy which i watched on youtube a few years back and enjoyed. Attachment 230807 Attachment 230808 |
2 Attachment(s) This weeks new arrivals. I only ordered the Conan dvd because it had a Kim Newman / Stephen Jones / Sarah Douglas commentary. Had no idea it came with a twenty page book and five art cards. Also just had word that Amazon have shipped the new Masque of the Red Death. Arrives Monday so they say, but i'm guessing tomorrow (Sunday) |

1 Attachment(s) Not a movie but a t-shirt for a movie arrived today. Roger Corman's The Undead. It's a film i've always enjoyed even if it's not one of Corman's best but it did open the way for his Poe cycle of films. The movie poster artwork is stunning. The t-shirt is from Plan 9 who sell them in HMV and Fopp but when i wanted to buy one from Manchester Fopp before they went under a couple of years back i was told Plan 9 didn't do them in any size larger than L which seemed odd. So when i noticed this on Eyesore Merchandise's website last week when ordering a band t-shirt i just had to have it. |

1 Attachment(s) Today's post Creed was £3 Flesh for Frankenstein was £8 I decided instead of just buying films I'm going to finish off some completions. I've loads missing from the nasties. |
1 Attachment(s) Three from Sainsbury's. The new Jackie Chan release was only £6, Charlie's Angels £4 and I Spit £3. I have said i wasn't going to bother with I Spit as it was too long at two and a half hours but £3 is neither here nor there really. Might be pretty good. Who knows? @MuckyFunster - My Sainsbury's was stocked as normal. It's a week since your post saying the assistant was removing discs from shelves to send back to the suppliers. Not happening up here it seems. The new Picard dvd had sold out on dvd so someone somewhere is clearly buying discs still. Perhaps the person you spoke to was misinformed, messing with you or simply having a bad day. |
Sainsbury's announced at some point last year that were were stopping the sale of physical media, so I think it is legit, they didn't specify when. Anyway, I've got Chan's new one lined up for watching too, doesn't look brilliant, but I'm sure it's entertaining. He's just not as flexible as he used to be! Saying that, I hope I'm in half as good shape as he is when I get to that age... |

1 Attachment(s) Arrived today actually forgot I ordered it. |
This one was cheap on Amazon, I've not seen it but it sounds good. LOADS of special features too, including another full length film. https://i.ibb.co/dLw5YsK/20210128-170444.jpg |

I see Jarman's Jubilee is £6.99. If you haven't got that well i'd certainly recommend it. Probably the movie i most enjoyed over Christmas. |
Culloden and Walker's Man of Violence. Great stuff. The extra Walker film in the MOV set is better than the main feature imo. |
