You're right about that. I own DVDs from 1998 that I've watched at least twice a year - they're still in mint condition. On the other hand, I lent a former classmate my DVD of A Fish Called Wanda for a couple of days - it looks like an old rental disc now.

What is it about rental discs which makes some of them look as if the person who watched it previously did so whilst eating a jam sandwich?!

You only need one sole piggy. One person who doesn't give a damn about the fact that it isn't him who owns the disc.

And an interesting fact from my own experience - it's very strange to see that it's very often very hygienic female persons (cleaning the house all day, taking three showers a day) who are able to destroy a disc on one single evening.
