As the years and series went by people would come up to him and start talking because they knew what he was doing. Even on the continental journeys.

Doesn't happen in the first couple of series but later on people are always recognising him.

I keep thinking the same will happen to Michael Palin with Monty Python and his actual film star status but it hasn't yet and i've been round the world in 80 days with him as well as pole to pole, not to mention across the Sahara and on a Hemmingway adventure.

Maybe it'll happen in the Himalayas or when he travels full circle.

It does happen to Palin from time to time but mostly it’s people who have been picked to be experts of the city he’s visiting who happen to be Python fans. But also he’s visiting some pretty far flung places in the pre internet days, so I’m not sure how many people in Hanoi for example in the 90s would have a clue who he is

I got that old collecting headiness buzz come over me this afternoon. It's not really the sort of thing that has happened in the 'internet one click of a button and the film is yours' days. It was something that happened in the nineties, going to a film fair and finding that one film you'd always wanted but never seen before. Your heart races, your head swims and a wave of sheer excitement takes over your whole body.

Browsing in Cex after taking in £14 of dvd's my eyes locked on Mario Bava's Kill...Baby Kill!. A Blu-ray released by Arrow years ago and deleted before i even had a Blu-ray player. As my hand moved towards the spine facing me on the shelf figures ran through my head. £20, £25, £30... How much was i willing to go for this masterpiece?

£12!! With booklet!! In as new condition!! F*CKING HELL.

I tried to browse other discs but everything was a blur nothing registering whatsoever. But i'd finally found Kill...Baby Kill! and i really didn't care.

That one seemed to go out of print really quickly it’s weird. Did you manage to get Baron Blood yet or is that one still elusive?

No, i don't have Baron Blood. Nor A Bay of Blood. But Kill...Baby kill! is my favourite Bava so i'm delighted with this.

Oddly Erik the Conqueror and Caltiki are still knocking around. You'd think once the Bava license expired that would be it and they'd all have disappeared.

I picked up:

I had so much fun watching it whilst ironing (Royal Navy training, Mrs troggi says "if you don't use the skills you were taught it'd be a waste of all that time and money") that the iron blew a gasket *or whatever it is that irons have* and ruined the bedside table/media centre!
