I did wonder.

I highly recommend it. There's a great performance from Patrick McGoohan as the prison governor.

I think Portmeirion must have really screwed with his psyche.

It might be a bit late, but as it's available on Prime Video I have just added it to my watchlist and will try to watch it tomorrow. If it's as good as you make out, I may have to amend my lists to accommodate it.

I enjoyed looking at the many prison films lists contributed over the last week and it has resulted in me ordering a couple of DVDs and adding another film to my Prime Video list.

This week, for no particular reason, I thought it would be an idea to follow on from what seemed to work with some other topics where the lists differ dramatically from person to person based on the subjective appeal of the different films. If you think of the word "parody" and think of films which send up another film, style of filmmaking, or even an entire genre, I think that could lead to some very varied and interesting lists.

PARODY FILMS

I hope this will come out in the lists because I mentioned the subjective nature of humour and there will be those who love Hot Shots and the Austin Powers films, and others who don't find them at all funny. The same might happen with films by Mel Brooks, Jim Abrahams, David and Jerry Zucker, Monty Python, Gerald Thomas etc. Some people could easily do a top 10 entirely of Thomas' 'Carry on' films, others may think they have no entertainment value whatsoever.

Perhaps the best thing which could come out of this week would be if the lists lead to a lot of thought and conversation about what is funny, what makes a good parody film, and respect that no two people have the same sense of humour.

No, I'm not taking the p*ss, it was a serious question

For me, the original 'Friday 13th' is so over the top and gratuitous, it has to be a spoof of a horror film. The same goes with with Raimi's 'Evil Dead', Bava's 'Demons' and Jackson's 'Bad Taste'/'Braindead'

Meanwhile, I look upon 'Rocky Horror' is a parody of 1950's science fiction films, 'This Is Spinal Tap' is a parody of Pennebaker's 'Don't Look Back' and 'Moonraker' wouldn't exist without 'Star Wars'
