The more cult labels on BR,the better!

To add to this: I've heard that Troma plan to release one title per month starting in January. The first title planned (I think) is Poultrygeist. I think they plan to carry over all the egg-stras (:tsk:) from the 3 disc DVD version onto one Blu.

Funnily enough, I was just musing this morning that I'd like to see this on Blu-ray! Nice one, BU! :woot:

Blue Underground and Blue-Ray,a marriage made in heaven.:bowl:

Amazon.co.uk are currently knocking out the Blu-ray of Near Dark for £5.98. I've read conflicting reports about the quality of the presentation - but at this price I'm taking a punt. Mine's ordered anyway!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 3rd December 2009 10:39 PM

THE WICKER MAN 1ST March 2010

And apparently our own Arrow are releasing WHO DARES WINS on the 8th March.....:dog:

Daemonia 4th December 2009 10:48 AM

Who Dares Wins? On Blu-ray? Not seen that in years. That's the Lewis Collins flick, yeah? I'll have to have a punt on that one. :)

vincenzo 4th December 2009 10:55 AM

I picked up the newspaper promo DVD of Who Dares Wins a while back. Daft as a brush but thoroughly entertaining stuff. Judy Davis looked gorgeous as ever.

Daemonia 4th December 2009 11:29 AM

The Blu-ray of Near Dark came through my letterbox this morning, will give this a spin at some point and I'll report back.

Just waiting for the BD's of Close Encounters and Bram Stoker's Dracula (I have a soft spot for it) to arrive now. :)

The collector's steelbook edition will only be available at Amazon.de and will be limited to 1,000 units. Contents will be as follows:

I saw that pic the other day :) Maybe we'll get a lovely boxset with all 5 films (including the longer Japanese version of TA2)

That pisses all over the standard edition I was looking at in HMV today. Why do we not get those kind of releases over here?

Sounds like another typical case of rip-off Britain strikes again to me!:eyebrows:

Splatterdragon73 13th December 2009 11:03 AM

Can anybody confirm if Optimum's Blu-Ray releases of Switchblade Romance and Universal Soldier actually contain the same extras as the DVD editions as there's no mention of any bonus material on the BR sleeves.

Also, have Optimum issued Frontiers on the new format?

BioZombie 13th December 2009 09:07 PM

Switchbalde Romance has no extras.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 14th December 2009 06:26 PM

Rob Strange 11th January 2010 05:45 PM

Some good titles there. I never picked the current blu ray of OFOTCN, so I'll go for the special edition. Didn't expect a new version of 2001; the current blu ray looks and sounds great, and has a healthy dose of extras. Wonder what's in store...

Will pick up the Dollars films as soon as they're released. Apparently The Good, The Bad and The Ugly blu ray has a dodgy enough transfer (??) - hopefully these'll be up to snuff.

And The Exorcist in October!

That edition was out in the UK as a HMV Exclusive.
It was in stock on HMV.com last week not checked this week. its £2 more but I just got the standard release.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 11th January 2010 06:55 PM

This may have been mentioned earlier on this thread, but Play has The Wicker Man Blu up for pre-order in October.

Rob Strange 12th January 2010 04:56 PM

Dargghhh!!! I knew that provisional release date of March was too good to be true! Still, I doubt the director's cut will be a HD option anyway.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 12th January 2010 05:38 PM

Damn damn and more damned!

THE EXORCIST in October-I'll believe it when I'm actually holding it my hand.

Aye. And I'll believe Friedkin/Warners are releasing the proper version only when I'm holding it in my hand! I don't want the George Lucas version.

In fact, I am tempted to go into the woods and burn my dvd copy. It is an unholy disc.

Got my 1st Italian Blu Ray today of trash Tomas Milian flick "Delitto al Ristorante Cinese" today and I'm frankly astonished at how good it looks and sounds! It's like seeing the film for the first time again, of course it's nowhere near 4k restoration, but for a film this old and trashy it's a revelation! Hope all the other Nico Giraldi films get the same treatment!

If you understand Italian (No English subs) and you love these films then buy it now!
