I'm not embarrassed to admit I love these films - I grew up with them!

Some Kind of Wonderful
Grease 2
Dirty Dancing
Xanadu
Staying Alive (well, apart from the last half hour)
St Elmo's Fire
and lots of other teen/romance/musicals from the 80s

Some Kind Of Wonderful is a personal favourite of mine. It always seems to get left out when talking about John Hughes films, probably because it's basically a remake of Pretty In Pink. I still have the soundtrack kicking around somewhere.

I've seen PRETTY IN PINK, but I haven't seen SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL. Is Molly Ringwald in this one to? You know, I used to really like the film FERRIS BUELLERS DAY OFF, but I revisited the film recently, and I just could not sit through it. I found the central character so irritating and obnoxious. I just had to switch it off after about 15-20 minutes. It was just too much to take. But PROJECT X, and WARGAMES, I could sit through anytime...

Some Kind Of Wonderful stars Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson and Lea Thompson. It's basically a role reversal take of Pretty In Pink, with stoltz in the Ringwald role.

Thanks for the reply.

Right then, I'm going to have a good look through my dvd's later, to find me an actual "closet favourite". There's got to be at least one or two in there. I will then post my findings here for the world to see. The challenge is on...

UPDATE: I'm getting to it folks...

Films I consider to be Closet Favourites range from Flash Gordon to Krull via Battle Beyond the Stars; all a bit embarrasing nowadays.
