American Psycho II: All American Girl (2002)

Hmm! What to say about this film. Although it references the original American Psycho a bit you don't need to be familiar with that source material to appreciate or loathe this sequel which plays out like a high school comedy with added psycho slasher elements. Films like Heathers, Jawbreaker or indeed Mean Girls spring readily to mind rather than serial killer films.

Once i'd decided it was basically a comedy and Criminology professor William Shatner had all these young women lusting after him i found it quite a bit of fun. Mila Kunis is always watchable so seeing her being vengeful and slashy was fine by me.

As a sequel to Mary Haron's American Psycho, this basically sucks but taken on it's own as a frothy high school film with several murders i actually enjoyed it.

Operation Bullshine (1959)

Hijinks at an anti-aircraft battery filled with female soldiers of the Auxiliary Territorial Service.

One of those light, frothy comedies with a bit of sauciness that only the British could come up with. Donald Sinden and Barbara Murray star in a likable combination of army routines and Carry On style farce. An easy film to watch with one or two comical moments.

The Network dvd looks and sounds great.

Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)

Director Drew Goddard has achieved with his Tarantino rip off Bad Times at El Royale, a film just as derivative and frankly bollocks as his earlier derivative and frankly bollocks, The Cabin in the Woods.

Instantly forgettable and a waste of two and a half hours.

I'm not a fan of the movie, but what films do you think The Cabin in the Woods is derivative of Dem?

I'm sure that I'll be hated for this but after revisiting Lucio Fulci's The Psychic/Seven Notes In Black on blu-ray, I now find it to be quite a boring film. Despite a strong opening and a very big improvement in the last third, I wasn't very impressed. My wife wants to keep it so it will remain on the shelves. Perversion Story/One On Top of the Other, Lizard In A Woman's Skin and Don't Torture A Duckling are massively superior Lucio Fulci giallos imo.

I thought it was boring too. Only watched the Severin dvd the one time.

Not films exactly, but it nicked the whole of season four of Buffy and the Wolfram and Heart plot line from Angel and made a film out of it. Joss Whedon must have run out of ideas by that stage.

Ah, that would explain it. Not seen much of either of those series.

I've liked both films and own both. My initial reaction to Bad Times of the El Royale was that it was better than Tarantino's last few films! I didn't think it was derivative and was as enjoyable as The Cabin in the Woods, a clever and fun parody of that particular horror subgenre.
