Mad Dog Morgan is great. Dennis Hopper is a real madman and the locations for the film is excellent.

Anyone esle here like Storm Warning? I thought it was great fun. Enjoyed it a lot more than The Loved Ones, with I found a little annoying in its over-egged shock tactics . . .

I have the great release from Umbrella of MDM.I would also highly recommend the R0 Umbrella release of The Chant Of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978).Not horror but a fine example of Aussie film-making at it's best.

I really liked Storm Warning - it skirted precariously along the border with cheese and pointless sadism, but just saved itself. The performances helped. Ended up enjoying it a lot. It's a dark, dark film though.

However, I also liked The Loved Ones. Enjoyed its pretensions to artiness. I was, however, knackered when I saw it, so could probably stand to view it again and pay closer attention.

Really? I had high expectations of Stunt Rock and Deathcheaters but they were boring as hell. Dead-End Drive In on the other hand is excellent and his best film i've seen so far.

Snowtown was excellent.

Here are my brief thoughts from the what films have you seen recently thread:

Quote:
I watched Snowtown last night.

Hard-hitting and very reminiscent of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer in both style and tone. Also, very well acted and shot with fantastic pacing, which in turn aids to the aura of menace that the film expels.

Also, for such an 'ugly' film, there are some exquisitely beautiful shots of the Australian countryside, which are almost implanted to rip you out of the ugliness, only to throw you right back in moments later. Good stuff.

Highly recommended!
