I still think Arrow should have considered your cover for their BD, Pete.

Bad news, folks: it seems as if Eureka's Island of Lost Souls has been postponed till 28 May 2012 (!). The original release date was 24 October 2011.

Play.com / Amazon.co.uk

I've been waiting so long for this to be released...

I would have accepted a few weeks, but another half of a year...I'm out - I'm going to order the R1 Criterion release, which is still due on 25 October.

Greetings!

Well, for me it's actually good news because they're re-assessing the release according to their spokesperson at blu-ray.com, which hopefully means they're reconsidering a Blu-Ray release.

For such an old flick, a well-made DVD will do it for me!

The real question is: why did they put it back so many months? If they wanted to release it on Blu-ray, I'm pretty sure that they would have to use the Criterion HD master anyhow!

Greetings!

They have an HD master but supposedly their test encode didn't look much better than a very good SD transfer to them. My guess is they've either seen the Criterion and believe it could be worth it or they think a DVD only release could suffer against Criterion?

Sounds sensible.

Well, it'll be the Criterion DVD for me now.

Greetings!

See all those old Redemption titles have been re-issued with even more shit covers. Seriously, Mr Wingrove - the covers were good (ish) 15 years ago but not today. ORIGINAL ARTWORK NOW!
