To be honest , I can't tell the difference between BD's and DVD's. I watched a BD of Batman in my sisters house (because she has the 50" Full HD TV), and I didn't notice a difference. :(

which discs did you watch?

I find some newer movies might look the same on some equipment. but take a look at some of the older ones like django on dvd and bluray and it def. looks a lot better.

I was a bit afraid to post that one in case people thought I was some Nazi racist!
I assure you all that this is not true. I bought this (for a fiver!!!) purely for historical reasons (plus critics rave about it!).

It's one of the films I studied at University, with the emphasis on Leni Riefensthall's propaganda rather than any Nazi issues

I think the propaganda aspect of it is the interesting part

Refused 1st October 2012 08:25 AM

I'm doing a unit on propaganda and persuasion at uni, so I'm assuming Triumph of the Will is going to crop up. Always been intrigued by it.

Just going from the title, The Triumph of the Will will undoubtedly feature, along with some of Sergei Eisenstein's films (Strike, October, Battleship Potemkin) and maybe even some party political broadcasts!

I'd be interested to find out what films you will and too cover in the module, so please keep us posted.

This isn't even a fraction of what I've got :D

I don't know what to watch. I'm thinking between Cannibal Holocaust, Island of Death or Carnival of Souls.

Do you regret it ? I dumped most of mine in 2000 when DVD came onstream and I totally regret it (so too a fantastic death metal collection when I was a kid). I have a few vids left but it brings a tear to my eye :(

Sometimes, but they took up far too much room.

With all due respect, this is something that you have to rectify at the earliest opportunity

It is a classic

Jinx_Barkman 2nd October 2012 12:45 AM

I agree Suzi. Pacino is my favorite actor and he and John Cazale turn in wonderful performances but Chris Sarandon's role is not to be missed.

Okay I'll watch it right after I finish watching Murnau's Nosferatu (and after work).

Wes 2nd October 2012 06:56 AM

My favourite moment in Dog Day Afternoon is that great scene when Pacino has the telephone conversation with Chris Sarandon...beautiful bit of acting...

ArgentoFan1987 2nd October 2012 10:08 AM

I always thought John Cazale was an amazing actor. It's a shame he died so early, because I think he would've been as big as De Niro and Pacino.

I think he was married to Meryl Streep, wasn't he?
