I suppose a safe net for thoose that do lend Dvds out would be a system of trust and respect. The person gives you something of value to them to look after and borrow a Dvd they then get their item back when they return your disc in the same condition in which you loaned it to them. Both party's then have confidence that their item will be returned to them AND in good nick.

That's what'll have happened Loopo....
I grudgingly lend to family members, but the rare and costly dvds don't leave my sight.

Well Reaps & All, I solved the space Issue. I have got a shelf up now which will house at least 300, and ordered a huge unit from Argos to replace some of the smaller ones which will house a further 379.

Reading this thread I remembered the pain in the ass that a lack of space came to be, and I felt compelled to write a blog entry on the subject of saving space with a hardcore DVD collection. You can see it here.

I miss the days of Music Zone! Herschell Gordon Lewis films for £4 each?! WTF?!

Im a bit OCD ish about certain films and get several versions of each plus a few back ups.

Anyone else like this.?
I'm like this a fair bit of the time so you're not alone there!

There's many of my fave DVDs i have two (or even three!) copies of and too many to mention here. It's mostly the horror and HKL titles for me personally and all of the titles in question are brand new, still sealed and have been in storage for some time, years even! For example, yesterday i spent about five hours going through some of my DVDs and looking for releases i can pass on now i have better versions. My original factory sealed copies of Vipco's The New Barbarians and Bronx Warriors are now on their way out now Shameless are on to the case!
