My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done....

Worth a blind buy? Herzog directing, Lynch producing, Dafoe starring ticks all the boxes, but I've also heard it's a self indulgent mess. Thoughts?

I liked the trailer quite a bit.

Greetings!
I liked it, but haven't seen it for a while. Bought the MYA disc back in 2009, which offers a good transfer I seem to recall (apart from a split second glitch when someone's head morphs in some strange digital way for no apparent reason, might be specific to my copy). It's a pretty mad film for its time with weirdness in excess of the ususal Naschy set up, including reanimated heads, necrophilious yearnings and random slime monsters (which you probably got from the trailer). Some (real) burning rats, so be wary on that score.
Demoncrat and Prince_Vajda like this.

After reading about it, I was really looking forward to this one - it's a shame it sent me to sleep, given all the people involved and the subject matter. I can't remember much about it because as I say I ended up tuning out after 1/2 hour, but I do recall thinking it looked awful, just really video-drab. Then again, my TV is rubbish, so this may be an extrinsic problem. First impressions were obtuse and uninvolving, but I should give it another go I guess.

One of Naschy's best IMO. It's wierd even by Naschy standards and crams as much madness into its running time that it possibly can. I loved it, I thought it was great. And even though the amoeba/slime thing man is silly, it's also a bit creepy - so definite points for that. I think you'll like it, Prince. Give it a go!

The picture quality isn't great, but I thought the film was really good.

Got a couple of things.

1. Is the blu ray of Dune the Theatrical cut? Watched the Alan Smithee cut and it's appualing!!

2. Anyone who's seen the blu rays of John Woo's The Killer and Hard Boiled, are they worth getting?

3. Which version of Wizards should I get? I have a region B player, so I'm not sure if the Digibook region free, and if it is, is it worth getting over Eureka's release?

Thanks

1. The new release? Yes it is. Lynch approved.

2. In short, no. 1080i, upscaled DVD images.

3. I believe they're the same on disc content.
