Totally agree, talk about pacing and editing problems, moves along at a snails pace and the make up effects haven't aged too well either. I much prefer SOME of the sequels like 2 and 6 for example.

The only thing that irritates me a bit with the New York Ripper is the annoying quacking duck sound. Apart from that it's a fantastic giallo.

Well, I wouldn't say it's just men that love those things. When I was studying Sociology I did a survey into attitudes towards film censorship. Surprisingly it was the female respondents who were more relaxed and felt there should be less censorship than did the men who were questioned, who felt there should be more censorship not less. Also, when a survey was carried out into who actually buys porn, it was found that 80% of porn is bought by women, not men!

I think it's disturbing but not annoying. I also find the main theme very disturbing too for some reason. There's a very hateful atmosphere all through the movie

You mean the theme of the film, right?

As I think the ending with the poor little girl in hospital shows up Fulci's pessimistic outlook on life, but then the 80's cop show style music kicks in and everything's alright again.

I just think it's a bit poor and tries too hard compared to Fulci's classics. It fares very badly indeed when you compare it to ...Duckling or Lizard.... It's OK, but far from great.
