He was in it, bit of a stretch to call it a launchpad though. He had bigger roles in Ghosts Of Mars and The Italian Job a few years prior, The Transporter came out before Cellular if I remember correctly.

The question and earlier discussion was regarding Brett Ratner not Jason Statham.

I suppose with Red Dragon he made every effort to copy Jonathan Demme, Still not a patch on the book

Saw a trailer for this and find myself interested....
