Went in not expecting much, but have too say this was excellent head and shoulders above most what passes for horror these days.

Here a girl joins a boarding school after the death of one of the girls , the rest of the students believe it too be the work of a ghost they tried too summon the night of the girls death. More girls end up dead could it be the work of a evil spirit of is it something more earthbound?

Some great practical gore effects and reminded me of black Christmas with a little bit of Heathers. Also had a good 80s/Carpenter style soundtrack Recommend.

Ending the night with Hammer House of Horror , The 13th reunion.

Ginger Snaps. 2000

Two death obsessed sister who are outcasts in their school deal with a problem when one of them is bitten by a werewolf.

I always felt this was a different kind of werewolf movie, this isn't like AAWIL where the metamorphosis of going from human to wolf doesn't cause screaming but over the course of the movie the girl does change her appearance. Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle play the teen death obsessed sisters decently and some good make up is involved, this one is best watched in the dark to avoid eye strain.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. 1988.

Ten years after his first massacre in Haddonfield , Michael Myers has been in a coma and wakes up to go after his niece with Dr Loomis hot on his trail to stop him again.

This is the start of the "Thorn" trilogy in the franchise and a good way to bring back the original character and the Doctor, who is the crazy one? the maniac wanting to kill his family or the doctor who is hell bent on stopping him? Danielle Harris plays the young niece Jamie who is able to pull off the scared little girl running from the boogeyman. Donald Pleasance always excels as the good doctor and able to resume his tanacity to put a end to Michael. I always think this film is underrated.

Nosferatu The Vampyre. 1979.

Count Dracula travels to Wismar and brings a plague across the land.

After watching Vampire In Venice I thought i'd try to find this online, Werner Herzog's version of the Bram Stoker's fable of the Transylvanian Count relocating to a different country. Klaus Kinski's performance in this has always freaked me out in the role that Max Schrek played in the 1922 fillm. This doesn't really have a dark tone to it but does have the suspenseful background score that makes it feel dark.

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

Always enjoyable and very creepy. Featuring some delightful fear inducing sounds from the dark woods at night. The sounds of stones clattering and children screaming as well as the final exploration of the old witch's house is still the essence of all things creepy and i still find it all rather disturbing.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000)

A group of young people from all horror stereotypes decide to go on a Blair Witch tour with one of the local guides. During the evening they discover the ruins of the witch's house from the film and camp there for the night. When they wake the next day they discover all their equipment has been trashed and their video tapes hidden in the ground in the same place the original tapes from the first film were uncovered. Once back at the guides place - a converted factory or something on those lines - they watch the tapes and make a horrific discovery.

Taking us on a completely different journey to the original found footage film whilst still toying with the witch's legend and playing on the audiences fears of witchcraft and superstition whilst leaving the ending open to interpretation as to if the people involved actually became possessed by the Blair witch or simply took it too far in the drug fueled orgy stakes.

The more i watch this the more i love it. From it's killer soundtrack - Marilyn Manson, Godhead, Rob Zombie, Poe - to it's all round general weirdness and the fact it's characters are likable especially Goth girl Kim Director. It deserves points for it's creativity and simply not remaking the original film (They'd do that with 2016's Blair Witch). I know not many feel the same way but i always enjoy this.

I didn't expect to hit a snag so early. I was so bored when I was watching this. One for the Cex pile. Even the action scenes were dull.

I've not seen Book of Shadows since the weekend it came out on VHS rental... One to revisit at some point I think.

I actually liked it, but was probably just so busy looking at gay porn 'star' Jeff Stryker that I didn't concentrate on how rubbish it was :D

Now if you thought THAT one was bad, wait until you watch the next one  yes, I can keep going lol...

After those quality zombie films it's Troll 1 and 2!

Have you done something bad you are trying to atone for?

If so i highly recommend Bruno Mattei's Zombies: The Beginning and Island of the Living Dead then say three Hail Mary's and your penance will be over no matter your wrongdoing.
