I really like both The Stand and Storm of the Century where King mini-series adaptations go too.

Whilst I didn't think it quite sunk to the levels of shit, I'm not a big fan of The Mist either, Nordy.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 6th October 2015 07:05 AM

My viewing so far:

I cheated and started my Halloween viewing around the 24th Sep - the October viewing is only from The Frighteners onwards - so feel free to disregard anything before that / spank me with a pumpkin encrusted cricket bat. It's all good to me. :skull:

Did you watch it in colour or monochrome?

It feels like a completely different film in black and white, and Frank Darabont says his preference is monochrome.

Justin101 6th October 2015 10:17 AM

I've only ever watched it in Black and White and I think it makes the film, packs in the atmosphere! I love the bleak ending as well.

Justin101 6th October 2015 10:24 AM

This is me so far Oct 1st-5th, trying to get some extras in because there are nights when I know I can't fit a movie in due to other commitments.

It would be interesting if you watch it in colour in the next few days and see what you make of it. As I said, they feel like different films according to whether it's a colour or monochrome, with the two versions from different eras.

It's almost like the two versions of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, only with exactly the same content!

I will watch it tonight while it's still fresh in my mind . Wish me luck

Rik 6th October 2015 11:30 AM

Only managed one film so far, the original NOTLD. Still my least favourite of Romero's original trilogy, but still a classic, ruined slightly by the sight of black bars at either side of the picture on the Blu Ray

Watched it last night. Still a classic. Still my favourite film. Great atmosphere, acting, score etc...Not bad for a low-budget TV movie.....and far better than the book, I'm sorry to say!

Wish Warner would hurry up with a remastered Blu Ray

I really like Letterboxd. I get a bit overwhelmed in terms of what goes on there nowadays as the member base has exponentially increased but I find it a great resource to log what I watch, create lists (I'm such a list whore :tongue1:) and to get some juicy film recommendations.
