I think it was the first film I saw with a twist ending. I watched it on a Friday evening probably in 1996 and then watched it a couple of times on the Saturday before the video was taken back to the rental store.

It has a superb performance by Edward Norton in his first major film – I was captivated by it and have seen it many times since then. Even though it will never have the impact of that first viewing, it's still a compelling film with one of Richard Gere's best performances.

No ones mentioned the original "Planet of the apes" , remember that being pretty cool when i was young and had no idea.

That was great. What a shocker.
Trouble was later, on some the home video/DVD releases they gave the ending away by putting the scene on the front of the box!
