As was already stated it's favourite not best list. I have Demons in my top 10 almost every film in my 100 is better than Demons but it there because I love it so much.

Can i ask how the scoring works B_E?

As a case study take The Body Snatcher and Lets Scare Jessica to Death.

The Body Snatcher - No 90 - 3 Votes - Highest position #3

Jessica - No 89 - 2 votes - Highest position # 10

Surely if TBS has more voters and a better higher position you'd think it would end up higher in the chart?

I think it works with the 1st placed film receiving 100 points and the 100th based film receiving 1 point, so it's possible the Body Snatcher received three votes, two quite low and one at #3, whereas Let's Scare Jessica to Death's two votes were worth more points.

I'm sure bizarre_eye_will be able to clarify.

Exactly what Nos said.

The Body Snatcher was no. 58 on Bub's list (43 points), no. 71 on Nos' list (30 points), and no. 3 on Dem's list (98 points) - total points = 171.

Let's Scare Jessica to Death was no. 10 on Frankie's list (91 points) and no. 20 on Jinx's list (81 points) - total points = 173.

Not really - I just copied and pasted people's lists into an Excel spreadsheet and set up a pivot table to calculate everything for me (well actually two - one for the ranked results and one to check the 'count' of the films and to ensure I was picking all the duplicate film votes up correctly).

I will add that obviously due to the sample size the bottom of the list can (and did) vary wildly with each new posted list. With a bigger sample size and/or longer lists (everyone posting a top 100 for instance) the list would probably be more representative. It is interesting seeing the closeness and positioning of some of the lower ranked choices in relation to one another and the list as a whole though, and it's great to see some of the more off the wall or unique choices get through to the Top 100.

Ha! I work with spreadsheets and build databases/reports for a living so it's kind of like taking my work home with me.
