December 16th, 1983 - 37 years ago today, Pete releases a statement declaring he is breaking up The Who. “I will not be making any more records with The Who. It's already been stated that our tour of America in 1982 was our last, and I can now add that I will not perform live again anywhere in the world with The Who

Roger, John and Kenney Jones (Keith's replacement) have nothing to do with the statement, and afterwards express shock and anger at Pete's decision and the idea that he could break up the group on his own. “It was a wonderful Christmas present,” Roger tells the press, sarcastically.

December 30, 1970 - 50 years ago today, The Who appear on a New Years Eve television special entitled 'It's Lulu Into '71', broadcast on BBC1. The program also featured artists Elton John, Cat Stevens, Alexis Korner and Traffic

...and 'Naked Eye' with live vocals, before a studio audience.

The opening lyric of 'Naked Eye' ("Take a little dope") was censored. Pete wore a full Cockney Pearly King outfit, while a strapped-up Keith, suffering from a fractured collarbone, mimed behind his new transparent Zickos drum-kit
