Urban Legend Trilogy!

"Camp fire stories aren't real – are they? Someone thinks they are and, in Urban Legend, they pick off their victims using those apparently apocryphal yarns as a template. The killing continues in Urban Legend: Final Cut, with a new killer – and new inspirations. And if your nerves can handle it, Urban Legend: Bloody Mary places a fresh, terrifying, spin on some old, old tales.

Even better than listening to spooky old stories (“...the call is coming from INSIDE the house...”), these three films are modern slasher classics. 88 Films are proud to present the complete Urban Legend trilogy on UK Blu-ray for the first time, completely uncut."

Nice to see they've ported over the Urban Legacy doc from Shout Factory. Makes it a worthwhile package.

It was already worthwhile.

Arrow-take note.

HUMANOIDS is a classic, one of the best of the eighties.

I've always owned it on whatever format way back since I paid a small fortune on a Warner ex rental way back in the days of magnetic tape....

It was also the first region 1 dvd that I bought. Also bought the Japanese dvd for the alternate cover 'MONSTER'.

I own it on Scream Factory blu and a Ltd ed OFDB 'Grobbe hartbox'...this'll be my third BD edition!

"88 Website Service update

Hi, it came to our attention yesterday that orders haven't been shipping out since 15th. We are assured this is being worked on now and should be back up and running tomorrow hopefully. We have also suffered illness here so we're well behind with our emails so can i please ask don't send multiple emails about the same thing, we are working through them one at a time.

If we've missed birthdays or occasions, again we're sorry about that but our webstore provider decided to change something without informing us..... which was nice....."

Trashforcash 29th March 2021 06:34 PM

Just had a look at Humanoids and it's very impressive. Great features, nice poster/slip, fab transfer and Kim Newman (which always makes it an essential purchase for me). You cant go wrong.

88 Films are really upping their game. The I know what you did set was great and now this. They are doing so well, while other labels are in decline...

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 29th March 2021 06:38 PM

Aye,can't wait for URBAN LEGENDS.

Truck Stop Women and Steel Arena have shipped!

Are the Urban Legends sequels any good? Only seen the first one and, although thats so-bad-its-good, I'm hesitating over the box set as I'm thinking the sequels will be unwatchable...

I like the second one but the third is pretty poor.

I enjoyed the second one, takes itself less seriously than the first. Not as good either but still enjoyable.

Not seen the third.

"88 Films Q3 Announcements

Ok, for once we’ve got our @#$% together and we’re ready to announce Q3 earlier than normal and its full of some of our best ever releases.

First up, Category III - The Untold Story of Hong Kong Exploitation. (Not officially licensed from Calum Waddell so don’t tell him) but we love a laugh. We’re gong to burn this 1 at a time to fulfil the demand so deliveries may take longer than normal… (UK only) “Totally…..accurate” Mike Leeder

Second Up, Human Lanterns, we’re expanding the successful 88 Asia Shaw Bros collection but this time it’s available in both Region B and Region A, that’s right, 88 is coming to the USA baby, lock up your daughters and even better we’re not asking for a crowd-fund to make it happen! (UK and USA)

Third up, i’m afraid that time has come, after 50 exciting, delighting, obscure, amazing real slashers (and Dead of Winter) the Slasher Collection is coming to an end….. but oh boy what an end, with probably the the most seminal puppet slasher ever made apart from maybe the 7th sequel, Puppet Master finishes up the 88 Slasher Collection. Limited to 888 copies so get you pre-order in quick! (UK only)

Finally the complete collection you never realised you needed on your shelf! From Don Bluth, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, The Land Before Time - The Complete Collection - All 14 Films!! As Calum's mother is dying, this joke is appallingly timed, insensitive, and crass. Given Mike Leeder's belittling of the Uighur genocide, adding his name is additionally tone-deaf.

Just remember, 88 are only a two man operation and cannot be held accountable for anything.

Or perhaps that's just a selective argument.

will graham 1st April 2021 11:21 PM

I see calum mentioned it on blu rage earlier but has he said anything publicly elsewhere about his mum recently? I mean I dont justify what 88 did and (yeah think mike has been brainwashed by chinese propaganda) but if they dont know his mums situation, they cant be complained about that.

But again not justifying 88 but the amount of times calum has verbally started on people (including me just because I said there is truth that many porn stars regret entering the industry, from interviewingthe ones who became popular and not the ones who careers were over after a few months) and throwing rants complaints/insults at companies even while he was currently working for them. Very trump like.

I do enjoy his interviews and think high rising is one of the best but he also "guilt by association" someone for doing work with arrow over a comment on another site. A comment that was telling the truth but could be misread by knee jerkers (especially by the way calum wrote about him). Something I still think is more unforgivable then what 88 has done.

I'm sorry if calums mum is on her last hours and 2 wrongs dont make a right.
But is it really surprising if one of the companies he publicly became hostile to, snapped back publicly?

Snapping back publicly at someone is one thing.

Doing so when someone is watching their mother die is something else.

If Richard and James didn't know, I think they should apologise and change the Facebook post. If they did know, then what they did is astonishingly cruel and inexcusable.

yep, i've had spats with CW too. he's quick to anger. however, there's no excuse to put the boot in when someone is hurting.

tbh I only go to 88 when there isn't an alternative as I find them hit and miss. i may go even less now...

will graham 2nd April 2021 04:36 PM

Didnt know calum was on insta. Yeah they should take that post down.

But like I said with calum it's gone beyond just snapping. Putting up a post on the high rising fb page making out that someone was a Polanski sympathiser just so that he can make another rant about arrow and deliberately twisting what someone said (all they said was that Polanskis victim had found the press harassment and unwanted fame was worse for her than the assault itself, which she has said repeatedly every time she gets harassed by the press) just because they're doing some work for arrow, I find more unforgivable, considering how troublesome that could be for them on social networks and get bad reputation.

But yes they really should get rid of that post and/or apologise if they havent done so already.

I cannot believe I'm having to come here and defend myself but the post you say I made which is more 'unforgivable' than the one 88 made is based on my reaction to the screenshot attached, where I've removed the person's name (and I have no interest of naming this person, let me add, and nor should you, indeed we all grow and learn from stupid things we have said in the past and I will assume this gentleman is no different) where he states that someone of 15 has had consensual sex (!) and then indicates someone having consensual sex somehow indicates a relation to rape (!!). If you think my utter disgust at this comment = something *unforgivable* then I have no words.

The High Rising Facebook page was removed almost two years ago. I have zero interest in online battles, as I'm sure you can appreciate, particularly now. Thanks for the kind words about our work.

As for the 88 comment - my sole interest just now is being at my mum's side when possible. I have no interest in their comments nor their opinions of my work, past or present, as it will never be on their discs again.

Calum 2nd April 2021 08:45 PM

I'll add one last thing - off topic: Alzheimer's and dementia in general is a horrible, horrible thing to experience firsthand. If anyone on this forum has had to deal with this firsthand with a close relative, I cannot express how much you have my admiration for coming out the other end.

will graham 2nd April 2021 08:51 PM

Was never going to mention the persons name and yep rereading that I do think u still twisted his words.

But again I am very sorry to hear about your mum and while I know she wont recover from her dementia I do hope her health improves.

Nothing to twist. Clue: a 15 year old does not have consensual sex. Get a grip.

I like how C.W only seems to post on here to have a go back at someone in response to some perceived criticism of some sort. What I find rather curious is how he becomes aware of said criticisms in the first place.
It's almost as if he has a minion on here reporting back every time there is something that might be worthy of offending C.W.
