The Antichrist and Blazing Magnum are for the Cult Classic range so will come with a slip case and artcards which will be quite nice.

They'll look like this for anyone who isn't aware of the range i mean.

Wonder if we'll get Holocaust 2000 and Cannibal Apocalypse down the line?

Would love Holocaust 2000. Was thrilled when i got the US dvd when it came out. Rain of Fire was it's US title. Seen it a few times. A really good cast for an Italian film.

Not fussed about Cannibal Apocalypse. I've watched my dvd once in all the years i've had it.

I can't figure out what Studiocanal own from their library because they appear to have what I thought were MGM titles listed as well e.g. the Corman/Price Poe titles, Frogs, Planet of the Vampires, etc

Do they repesent MGM in the UK or have they bought the rights off them? I'm pretty sure when 88Films released Frogs it had an MGM logo on it.

Basically StudioCanal are in with Park circus who represent so many companies so maybe it's a deal in with that.

Park Circus represents over 20,000 titles, including the following film libraries and collections:

20th Century Studios
Arrow Films
American International Pictures
Cannon
Cinerama Releasing Corporation
FilmFour International
First Independent Films
Gainsborough Pictures
Gaumont British
HandMade Films
Icon Entertainment International
ITV Studios Global Entertainment (in conjunction with Shout! Factory’s Westchester Films division)
Laika, LLC
MGM/UA
Network (DVD label)
New Zealand Film Commission
Orion Pictures
Paramount Pictures
PolyGram Filmed Entertainment
Rank Organization
Revolution Studios
The Samuel Goldwyn Company
Sony Pictures (Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems, Sony Pictures Classics, and TriStar Pictures)
Universal Pictures
Village Roadshow Pictures
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures UK
Warner Bros

Although SC aren't listed there they are on the Park Circus website as a studio partner along with MGM, Sony, Warners, Fox, Itv, Universal etc, etc.

Hollywood Classics, another logo on the reverse of so many discs, are another film rights agency.

Knowing about these guys still doesn't fully clear up the confusion for me.

For instance, Hollywood Classics includes movies owned by Warners and yet only the BFI has been able to licence from Warner and as I understand it that has only been for 'important' British movies.

Yes, Warners were the main contributors to HMV's Premium Collection but did HMV actually licence anything or were they just allowed to spruce up the packaging for titles Warner released themselves.

The ones I noted on the studiocanal website appear to be AIP titles owned by MGM, although I may be mistaken, which led me to think there was some sort of special relationship.

I'd really like to understand it a little better because I might then be able to understand why some titles of clear commercial value don't seem to get a Bluray release in the UK?

A good example would be Planet of the Vampires. I think it's owned by MGM. it's listed on Park Circus, it's listed in the studiocanal library, it's had releases in both the US and continental Europe but not in the UK. Being one of Bava's most high profile films you'd think a boutique label in the UK would be all over it?

I wish someone in the industry would do some sort of blog to explain and join the dots. It would probably be boring for most people but I think I'd find it interesting.
