Just a heads up for those interested in some non horror Hammer films that are rarely seen.

The very rare THE UGLY DUCKLING (1959) is being shown on Talking Pictures on Sunday 14th October at 13:40 and Wednesday 17th October at 18:20. Never ever seen this one so will be definitely tuning in.

Also A WEEKEND WITH LULU (1961) on Saturday 27th October at 15:45/Thursday 1st November at 18:10

DON'T PANIC CHAPS (1959) Monday 29th October at 13:45

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll certanly try and get a few of those.

I've only ever really known the horror ones to do with vampires, Frankenstein etc, not too clued up on the more suspense, thriller type ones. Is The Nanny or Maniac any good?

Never realised the remake of Let The Right One In was a Hammer production. Really like the original of that so I don't know if I'd be into the remake.

Only "new" Hammer I've seen is Wake Wood which was not bad.
The Nanny is excellent imo. Maniac is one of the few i haven't seen but the Indicator release is somewhere in my vast 'to watch' list.

Yes it is.

It's a twisty-turney psychological thriller rather than a blood-and-guts horror film, but it a very good one that keeps you guessing all the way through

I agree with Susan. The Nanny is a thoroughly engrossing and very clever thriller with great performances by Bette Davis and William Dix in a battle of wills were never quite sure who to believe.

Thumbs up for The Nanny from me as well. their psychological thrillers are every bit as good as their horror films.

Well done Dem. The opening titles scenes are the British titles rather than the re-arranged US title scenes on previous releases which really made no sense.

Following movie watching last night i wasn't tired so ended up watching a World of Hammer episode on The Reptile disc. - Wicked Women.

I ordered The Anniversary just now because of the clips shown. It's not a film i've seen before but it looks superb with another fine performance from Bette Davis.

Have the rest of you got the film? Is it as much fun as it looked?

i saw it years ago on TV and thought it was excellent. you can tell its based on a play because its all pretty much set in one location but the dialogue is great and Davis gets really stuck into it as a matriarch from hell. recommended if you have a taste for bitchy drama.
