Is it me or are some areas of fandom becoming toxic?

I especially wonder about the ones who go all sexual and begin to talk about w****g, suc**g off ect ect when referring to people who like things they don't

Unfortunately Facebook has become the soapbox for the e-world to flex their muscles and exercise their mouths on. There is little control so is open to all kinds of poisonous and moronic behaviour.

Like Dem says it's why I like forums such as this one, as despite being public you feel as if you're among friends rather than embroiled in a constant battle to overcome negativity/stupidity (Facebook) and/or one of millions of insignificant voices shouting at each other in the dark... in 140 character bursts (Twitter).

very true, very few friends are into the same films as me so it's always fun to come on here and see people getting excited about the same releases.

I would, but it's the only way to stay in touch with the majority of my peers at University. After graduation, I'll probably delete my account.
