The Completely Made-up Adventures of Dick Turpin (Apple TV) Premiere Date: 1 March, 2024 In “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin,” Dick Turpin (Noel Fielding) sets out on a journey of wildly absurd escapades when he’s made the reluctant leader of a band of outlaws — and tasked with outwitting corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde (Hugh Bonneville). In this irreverent retelling set in the 18th century, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavours, including a brush with celebrity, all whilst trying to escape the clutches of the thief-taker. This should appeal to fans of The Mighty Boosh with subscriptions to Apple TV. Sadly, I only fit into the first category.

BOTTOM: UKTV ANNOUNCES RESTROSPECTIVE CELEBRATION FOR CLASSIC COMEDY SERIES / TV Zone "Comedy channel Gold will celebrate Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall’s much-loved sitcom Bottom with a brand new retrospective, Bottom: Exposed (1x120’), airing later this year. In Bottom: Exposed, Gold delves deep into the story behind the acclaimed sitcom, which spanned eighteen episodes across three series from 1991 to 1995, as well as five sell-out stage shows. Co-creator and star Adrian Edmondson will give his first-hand account of making the hit show with the late, great Rik Mayall, alongside contributions from a host of the show’s cast, crew and famous fans, plus narration from Stephen Fry Adrian Edmondson says, “A long time ago, deep in the mists of time, two blokes - I was one of them, Rik Mayall was the other - decided to make a career out of beating the s*** out of each other. It was a tempestuous, an anarchic and occasionally quite a dangerous time - we both required hospital treatment on occasion - but above all, it was bloody good fun. We made each other laugh, and luckily for us, we made audiences laugh. This programme seeks to get to the bottom of why it worked." Bottom: Exposed will explore the show from its anarchic production to its enormous success both on screen and on stage, right through to its legacy and the relationship between Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall at its centre. Bottom: Exposed will also uncover a treasure-trove of rarities giving a unique behind the scenes insight into Bottom, with footage that has never been broadcast and exclusive stories from the set. Producer and series director Ed Bye, former Bottom cast members Helen Lederer, Kevin McNally, Roger Sloman, Lisa Maxwell and Paul Bradley, and famous fans such as Chris McCausland and Maisie Adam will reflect on the show and its monumental impact on the sitcom genre. Bottom: Exposed is commissioned for UKTV by Mark Iddon, senior commissioning editor for comedy and entertainment and Jason Dawson, commissioning executive, and ordered by Gerald Casey, channel director for Gold and Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning. Executive producer is Matt Crook, managing director of Studio Crook. Jason Dawson said, "We are delighted to be working with Studio Crook and Adrian Edmondson to commemorate this inimitable series with a brand-new documentary. With reams of unseen footage and contributions from beloved alumni and famous fans, audiences are in for a treat." Gerald Casey said, "It's an exciting experience to commemorate one of the UK's most cherished series. The show Bottom holds a special place in the hearts of our Gold viewers, and we are thrilled we'll be giving them this unique insight into the series." Matt Crook said, “Studio Crook is beyond excited to be working on Bottom. It was such a huge show and has never had a documentary until now, so we feel incredibly privileged and excited to be given this opportunity by UKTV to work with Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall’s estate to celebrate one of the greatest sitcoms of all time.” Bottom: Exposed will air on Gold later this year. The Bottom boxset will also be available on Sky, Virgin and NOW."

A series version of the David Cronenberg film Scanners is in development at HBO, Variety has confirmed. Per the official description, the series is set in the mind-bending world of David Cronenberg's seminal film. Pursued by relentless agents with unimaginable powers, two women living on the fringes of modern society must learn to work together to topple a vast conspiracy determined to bring them to heel. William Bridges (Black Mirror, Stranger Things) will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series. Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country) will direct and executive produce via Wayward Films. Cronenberg, who wrote and directed the original film, will serve as an executive producer. Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer will executive produce on behalf of Media Res Studio. Meredith Duff and Sarah Sullivan of Wayward Films will also executive produce along with Ren? Malo and Fanny-Laure Malo, Pierre David, Clark Peterson, and Aaron Gilbert. The show is a co-production between HBO, Media Res Studio, and Wayward Films. Media Res first announced they were working on the series version of Scanners in 2017. Should the Scanners series go forward, it would be the second series adaptation of one of Cronenberg's films in recent years. Amazon is currently prepping a series version of his film Dead Ringers with Rachel Weisz in the dual lead roles as a pair of twin sisters. Scanners was originally released in 1981. The film followed a man who discovers he is one of 237 scanner people with incredible psychic powers after he is recruited by a private military contractor to stop an evil scanner named Revok (Michael Ironside). The film also starred Stephen Lack, Jennifer O'Neill, and Patrick McGoohan among others. It went on to achieve cult status, particularly for the infamous sequence in which a scanner's head explodes. Four sequel films have since been released, though Cronenberg was involved with none of them.

'Halloween' – Miramax TV Series Will Be a "Creative Reset" for the Franchise; Here's the Latest We had learned this past October that Miramax landed the TV rights to the Halloween franchise, joining forces with Malek Akkad's Trancas International Films to bring Michael Myers to the small screen. Miramax will be developing and co-producing the Halloween saga's first ever TV series, and Miramax head Marc Helwig provides an update to Deadline this week. What can we expect from the Halloween TV series, you ask? For starters, don't expect any kind of continuation to the storyline from David Gordon Green's Halloween trilogy. "The foundation of it is the original film, the John Carpenter movie, the characters of that film, and perhaps a group of characters that we haven'" T really focused on that much in recent film versions or even in a number of them," Helwig teases. "It's a creative reset completely and going back to the original film, as opposed to spinning out of any of the more recent film adaptations. Helwig also notes, "We're on a fast track, it's a big priority for us. We've had lots of exciting conversations in recent months with a number of really talented people, and I think we'll have a pretty good idea of what we're going to be doing very soon. We're hoping to lock down the creative team very soon." As a reminder, Miramax co-owns the Halloween film rights alongside Trancas. In other words, this new universe from Miramax and Trancas could potentially span film and television. 2022's Halloween Ends was the thirteenth installment in the Halloween franchise, which to date has never made its way onto the small screen. This one will be a big time first. https://bloody-disgusting.com/tv/380...es-the-latest/ Last edited by Nosferatu@Cult Labs; 8th March 2024 at 08:09 PM. |

Taskmaster Series 17 starts on CH4 on Thursday 28th March at 9pm. "Joanne McNally, John Robins, Nick Mohammed, Sophie Willan and Steve Pemberton are the formidable five hoping to pass the Taskmaster's muster with their attempts to hunt for patatas, hoopla a gorilla and hug a special friend. Further detailsAlex Horne has ticked off everything on his to-do list: Greg Davies' suit has been washed, pressed and kissed; his throne has been re-sprung according to strict specifications, and that iconic golden trophy has been carefully polished with a fine-bristled toothbrush. Everything is ready for a brand-new series of the award winning and international hit show. Across ten episodes, Greg will, as is his wont, rely on his efficient assistant, Little Alex Horne, to be timing, noting, recording, measuring and nodding along to all the task activities not only at the Taskmaster House, but also by picturesque rivers and on big fields patrolled by aggressive flatulent wild horses."
