I've finished watching The Night Manager on Saturday. It's a great piece of television which shows the benefits of investing in the right screenwriters, actors, directors, other crew members, and stumping up for location shooting. Tom Hiddleston is brilliant in it, as are Hugh Laurie as 'the worst man in the world' and Tom Hollander, who managed to be both sympathetic and terrifying, particularly in the scene involving a lobster salad.

It is a story which can't be done in a two-hour film and needed a six-hour miniseries to properly do the events and characters justice.

If you haven't seen it, it's out on Blu-ray/DVD shortly (if not already), so do yourself a favour and rent or buy a copy.

A fantastic fact in case you didn't know. The bloke in the lobster scene with Hollander is in fact John Le Carre.

Simon Templar ( Sir Roger Moore) is the Saint a millionaire playboy who is the scourge of the police world wide because taking matters into his own hands to help those in need or danger . Templar is a fantastic creation who is handsome, smart and caring but also has a darkside and believes in a tooth for tooth and an eye for an eye and is not above killing those who he thinks deserve it. A great show with some great co stars and story's that still stand up today but of course the real star here is Moore's performance.

The seaview is the most powerful craft on or under the seven seas. The main crew members are captain Lee Crane ( David Hedison) and Adm. Harriman Nelson designer of the seaview who every week along with the rest of the intrepid crew battle either some type of creature or Cold War / Bond type situation. The first season is black and white but the following three seasons are colour. By the second season we saw less and less " serious " story's and more creature of the week episodes.

No Job for a Lady - Strange Bedfellows (1991)

Fairly average, well at least compared to Yes Minister, comedy starring Penelope Keith as Jean Price, a newly appointed Labour MP.

This opening, standout episode of series 2, tackles the issue of top shelf porn and how it corrupts our youth. For once Labour and the Tories agree on something - it should be banned...to a certain degree...but only the filth that they don't actually buy themselves. Clearly Gay Times was one to go, as posh Tory George Baker puts it 'There aren't any gay Tories...' well except the one asking for the mag in the newsagent stood next to Jean, but clearly it was 'for a friend who was too embarrassed to ask for it'.

Anyway this was a classic episode of PG rated filth. If you've ever wanted to see Penelope Keith discuss the pros and cons of porn then this is for you. Half an hour of proper laugh out loud moments.

I knew that before I watched it, but couldn't remember which one he was! At the time, I was too focused on Tom Hollander, Hugh Laurie, Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Debicki.

Just started watching 11.22.63. Only on first episode but it seems decent. Anyone watched?

Me, I've been watching it since it started airing in America. Due to being too busy, I've still got the final 3 episodes to watch, but I've really enjoyed it. It does defer from King's novel in some places, but not as much/bad as Under the Dome, which started out ok and went downhill rapidly (I gave up midway through season 3!).
I like James Franco, so I think he plays the part of Jake really well

New York cop James Dempsey ( Michael Brandon ) is sent to London after he stumbles upon high ranking New York police department personal involved in criminal actives.

Once he reaches London he his teamed up with Sargent Harriet Shagpeice sorry Makepeace (Glynis barber) it's definitely not a case of love at first site with Makepeace having little time or respect for Dempsey but it's soon obvious to everyone but them that there is an mutual attraction. There first case involves millions of GBP worth of caviar but this soon leads to something far more sinister and far reaching with global effect.

A highly enjoyable show that works because of the chemistry between the two stars, which some of it must of been for real as they married in 1989 and are still married till this day
