Slightly off-topic, but have you seen Fessenden's previous film Wendigo, Dem? Both it and The Last Winter share some common themes.

Its a strange one Wendigo. Its either 1p from Amazon's marketplace or commands silly high prices so i've noticed.

I liked Wendigo apart from the naff looking creature, and I liked The Last Winter apart from the phantom carribou. Think I'd like Fessenden's films more if he left out the monsters . . .
