I can't wait to see the other panel (or panels) for Maniac Cop. Just as long as one of them isn't the one used on the Synapse dvd, which butchered the original (cool) poster by sticking a goofy looking face on Cordell when it was in shadow on the poster. And on that note, I'm watching Maniac Cop 3 at the moment. Someone needs to give us a special edition of Maniac Cop 2.

I like most of Lustig's films - I don't even mind the sub-par Uncle Sam, it's a fun little zombie/slasher movie. Maniac I think is a masterpiece (sorry, Pete), Spinell is superb and it's a harrowing look at the mind and life of a psychopath. Vigilante is a great urban action piece focusing, naturally, on people taking the law into their own hands. You know right from Williamson's speech at the very start that this is a film not to be taken too seriously. Then there's Maniac Cop, which I've always liked (I like the whole trilogy, actually). I waited years for a decent release on DVD and Synapse finally obliged - and now Arrow are giving us a Blu-ray. Good times. I'd also echo other people here and say that putting out the entire trilogy would be very welcome.

Personally, i don't mind the saturated sexpot in peril but i'm not too enamoured with the image of Bruce Campbell's face emblazoned on Matt Cordell's torso. This element seems a bit too random and out of place to me. Apart from this i quite like Rick's rain-drenched concept. Last edited by Splatterdragon73; 13th June 2011 at 05:36 AM. |
