Default Beyond Re-Animator – The DVD Specs

BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR

Welcome to Death Row. The Doctor will see you now…

Trash cinema’s greatest ghoul is back! Horror legend Jeffery Combs returns as Dr. Herbert West in Beyond Re-Animator, the gory sequel to the original 80s splatter classic.

Incarcerated for the death of an innocent teenage girl at the hands of one of his resurrected corpes, Dr. West continues his insane research into the creation of life from behind bars. West makes a breakthrough with his discovery of Nano-Plasmic Energy, a substance that prevents the living dead from degenerating, but in doing so he unleashes bloody chaos in the prison as no one knows difference between the humans and the zombies.

From the fevered mind of HP Lovercraft and Brian Yuzna comes a sick horror comedy thrill ride in which you can trust no one... Alive or Dead!

I already have the Mosaic Entertainment R2 DVD of Beyond Re-Animator, which features the uncut, unrated version. The R1 Lionsgate disc apparently features a cut R-rated print, there's no mention as to whether the Arrow DVD will have the cut or uncut version on it.Beyond Re-Animator's not a bad film (it's not great either) but I much prefer Stuart Gordon's classic original and the entertaining follow-up, Bride of Re-Animator.If Arrow were to release a SE of Brian Yuzna's Bride, I'd definitely go for it.

You're not the only one! Is that a film that could also be on the Fantastic Factory label?

Afraid not. It wasn't a FF film.

Wouldn't Brian Yuzna have the rights and therefore be open to another UK release...?

Of course, but I just assumed the FF label would be just for films made by them. If Filmax (the company behind the FF label) decided to get the rights, they could certainly release it as a FF title.

To be honest, I'd never heard of Fantastic Factory until this release came about so have just looked on Wikipedia to find the films that they released.

Faust: Love of the Damned (2001) - directed by Brian Yuzna
Arachnid (2001) - directed by Jack Sholder
Dagon (2001) - directed by Stuart Gordon
Darkness (2002) - directed by Jaume Balagueró
Beyond Re-Animator (2003) - directed by Brian Yuzna
Romasanta (2004) - directed by Francisco Plaza
Rottweiler (2004) - directed by Brian Yuzna
The Nun (2005) - directed by Luis De La Madrid
Beneath Still Waters (2006) - directed by Brian Yuzna

As there are five films that aren't in this box set, there are sufficient titles for another one. Hopefully, sales will be good enough to persuade both FF and Arrow that releasing a second box set would be worth their while.

Let's hope so. I'd love to see Dagon. I actually read the story last week. Although most of the film is based on Lovecraft's other story, Shadow Over Innsmouth.

I imagine I'm like everyone else here and just want to see as many cult and horror films as possible, so I would love to see a second box set containing the other five films so let's hope this one sells by the shedload!
