I wonder what Prisoner's budget was? Everything in the prison usually seemed to happen in either the laundry room or the cells. Ocassionally they'd get the funds to shoot outside when someone was released in the build-up to them going back inside.

There'a a lot of location shooting in the initial 20 episodes, I think because those episodes were part of what was to a stand-alone series before it's success saw the show move into more of a Soap Opera format.

One thing I've noticed is that warder Meg gets offered a lift home in virtually every episode, then they have dinner at her house (one of two domestic interiors, the other being Vinegar Tits' dark and depressing home). This then, is the basis of the Cell Block H drinking game. Take a drink everytime Meg accepts a lift, Another everytime to steam press is depressed, more sips to match Lizzie's surgical spirit addiction, yet more drinking everytime Vinegar Tits raises a sarcastic eyebrow.. Add your suggestions.

My mum used to watch the show when it was first on and liked it, so when UKTV here in Australia started showing the complete series run in about 2002 I made sure to catch as many as I could. I laughed when I saw Alf Fisher ("ya flamin' mongrel!" from Home & Away) as the warden from the mens prison.

My favourite character was always the woman who went on to be the Doctor's wife in Neighbours... The little minx!

The drinking game sounds greeeeat fun!

Here's some more ..

... everytime someone gets a beating for "lagging"

... everytime the scenery moves in a cat fight

... everytime Lizzy is released then commits a petty crime to go back in

.... everytime The Freak puts on her leather gloves to "teach inmates a lesson"

Oooh this is fun

Every time a prisoner comes on to the Doctor

Every time to Governer reminds you of Miss Babs from Acorn Antiques

Every time Reb Kean puts here collars up and walks around in a sassy, Rockabilly Queen kind of a fashion.

REB KERN: SASSY BITCH WITH GREAT LOOKING HAIR.
DENIM COLLARS ALWAYS UP

Oh my God ... I had so forgot about her! Talk about wardrobe people not having a clue how to make someone look tough!

Genius Sam!

I always imagined that the cast of Ramsey street went to Summer Bay on their holidays. Perhaps in this imaginary world of Antipodean Soap, when the women of Neighbours and Home and Away commit crimes, they get packed off to Wentworth. The limited acting pool of Aussie acting talent back in the 70s/80s/early 90s certainly gives that impression...

Drinking Game:

Everytime Rita Connors straightens her headband.

RITA CONNORS. ARCH NEMISIS OF THE FREAK. HEADBAND ENTHUSIAST

Though to be fair Sam the UK is only on with Volume 5, there's years yet until Rita appears. It's Queen Bea for the first 400 episodes!
