I've just been searching the net for stills of the upgraded effects. I couldn't find any but I did find this, which may explain why it's been done.

What the hell are StudioCanal playing at? The film doesn't need tweaking, it is what it is and is a document of its time. To alter a Hammer classic - totally unforgivable!! My pre-order has now been cancelled. They need to address this and allow us to see the original, untampered version. This is just crazy. Might upset Hammer purists? Well, who the **** do they think is going to buy this? Hammer purists, of course. No-one else will really be interested.

I don't think happy pills will help me much, I'm a miserable git.

Anyone who thinks this tampering is okay is as mad as StudioCanal!

I too have cancelled my pre-order, I'm gutted as I was really looking forward to it, but we must all vote with our wallets.

Exactly. Who did they think would be pleased about this? If they really must digitally tweak the SFX, then at least include it as AN option on the disc not THE ONLY option.

My pre-order has also been cancelled.

I won't be cancelling my order as I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to Wheatley's tales of black magic and will also buy any original version on Blu-ray too, if one is ever released.

The Angel of Death is one of the great Hammer moments, how dare they?

I won't be buying this either.
Making both versions available is the only acceptable option for me as well.
