Well, no matter how good the picture quality is they still cropped Castle Freak and that's not to treat it right. When they crop a film they should at least include a version with correst aspect ratio.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest

Never said it was or wasn't. Thousands of movies are filmed open matte and cropped to widescreen. Go moan about them.

Easy man or i'm forced to hug you!

On NOTLD:
"Get your coat! You too are banished from this place forever! Next you'll want Casablanca and the Universal monster movies cropped to 16x9."

I think you'll find that Castle Freak was probably composed to be shown either way. That's why I'm not bothered.

To be honest i think it's more of a way to satisfy the 16:9 obsessed audience. But i'm pretty sure i will end up with the upcoming BD either way.

Over and out

Haha, you could be correct. There's a few open matte dvds and blu-rays that I've zoomed up to fill the tv screen, the Ninja III blu-ray being one of them.

I hate the trend to crop 2.35:1 films to 1.78:1 but not bothered when they remove pointless extra space from the top and bottom of an open matte presentation (unless it was intended to to look that way)
fuzzymctiger likes this.

Turning into an aspect ratio thread here lol, but everyone was complaining about Once Upon A Time in Mexico being altered from 2.35 to 1.78 for dvd. But that was one where it was actually opened up to show more info on the dvd. Same with the complaints about the German ICARUS (The Killing Machine) blu-ray. More picture than the UK 2.35 version.
