Cool

Picked up 'Commando' on Blu, the logo at the start looks ropey but once the film starts it's Arnie at his best in both looks and in particular sound. The picture is nice and detailed with nice colours and is miles better than the Blu Predator releases. But it's the sound that makes me smile, DTS 5.1 brings out a thumping soundtrack where the theme hits just the right note(no pun intended) in fact it's probably my fave Blu sound quality so far. We're told that Blu carries higher bit rate audio than dvd, it does here(if you spin it thru 5.1 or even better lossless I bet you have to turn it down). And I should also mention that it seems uncut, easily more violent than other versions I've seen and at only £8 in HMV a must buy for action fans. Arnie and friends also seem to be having a ball, the line "I lied" still made me chuckle, hadn't really seen it for a while, glad I got reacquainted. 'The Terminator' is still my fave Arnie but this is a good rival in all it's window shaking glory.

Default Battleground / Skeleton Lake

Canadian Indie action release that seems to have been signed up quickly to iTunes and Tesco DVD exclusives?! Don't see why the name's been changed either but going to give it a go tonight. Not even reviewed online much yet either. Could be a terrible sign.... Anyone given it a go?

Just finished Unstoppable. I did not have any interest in seeing this until I found out Tony Scott directed it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mindless action fun.

Brian Bosworth in Stone Cold. Had forgotten just how much fin this was! A real action knockout and the helicopter low level flying at the end would never be allowed now!

Isn't this the megaflop that effectively ended Hal Needham's success as a director?
