The elephant releaes in 1988 was cut by over four minutes by the bbfc. Vipco submitted the same cut version in 1992. The 2001 dvd lost 34 sec's due to being prosecuted 10 years previously.

In addition the cinema version was cut by around 1½ mins. Been over 25 years since I saw this print but all the murders were heavily cut. The bat scene was also much shorter, though much of the tracking shot in the cellar showing the body parts on the slab (a later video cut) was intact.

The first Vipco release was pre-cut by 7½ mins and lost a minute more than the previous Elephant one. In fact basically everything gore-related was either missing or heavily cut.

I remember getting the Vipco release, it actually lead to my obsession with Italian horror and all things Fulci.

They basically could. I remember the old videos of Nightmare City and Burial Ground which were so heavily cut they were anaemic.

No he's talking about the back of pack and yes amazingly there does seem to have been a whoopsie! Well I guess that'll make the first batch of the DVDs unbelievably crazily valuable... or not!
