I always found it strange how Sleepless was previously released. I mean you had:

Dario Argento's best film in years + worst supporting artwork in years.

The reverse cover is better, oddly enough though it doesn't have much to do with the film either. Are the Arrow releases going to be remastered or the standard editions repackaged?

May be it was a way of introducing Argento to a new generation without scaring them off! (Marketing plan: Bland artwork = impression of generic Hollywood thriller) This might mean your average Joe may impulse buy it, and discover an otherwise unknown love for Argento!

These great new covers will put a stop to all that nonsense!!!

These first three (Sleepless, HBTC and Macabre) are new to Arrow so it's all-new discs and presentations.

I like the reverse. Something involving the animal-themed killings might've worked too.

Will this release have the Italian track with English subs?

Never truer words spoken.Think of the extra sales of this, had it sported some stunning artwork. As it was, only Argento aficianado's would have picked it up.....

I'd not seen that one although I'm sure some strange variation of it exists in another territory. I think most distributors were left stuck with so little guidance from the Italian artwork. You think back to the strong key designs for Suspiria, Tenebrae and Inferno and then look at Sleepless and wonder what happened? This is what intrigues me. The art of the painted poster (at least commercially) seems to have died off to the detriment of genre film-making.

I totally agree, Almar. One of the biggest memories that sticks in my mind from being a kid at the start of the 80s... is going into video shops pre video nasty scandal, and seeing all those horrific looking painted VHS covers in the horror section. Turns out most of those covers were actually better than a lot of the films!

I love all the original painted Giallo posters from the original era, as nicely illustrated on this site:

http://giallolocandine.blogspot.com/

Stunning work on most of them.
