And that offer was much appreciated - I get nervous though of people sending posters - especially with the post the way it is. We should have artwork news soon...

Woo hoo!
Just heard from Almar that it's looking good that the gasmask image that stevoj and myself (and others) have been campaigning for to be used for the reverse artwork might actually be used.
Hopefully the initial blu-ray front view that stevoj did, and the 3d covers I did let people realise it would be a very cool image to use. Everyone keep your fingers crossed.

Late to this thread, but I really like this art:

But perhaps with Dawn of the Dead instead of Zombi on it.
Yellow / black / white / blue (the case) is a good colour combination.

That's how I feel some mornings! Sad to say that art won't be featuring but I guess one day there will be a replacement to Blu-ray and we'll all have to re-buy our films again!

You reminded me of The Ring remake then.

In the original... The raven haired ghost climbs out of a TV with no fanfare

In the US remake, a flying host of CGI accompanies her and I know which one has more atmosphere.

A cool image indeed and a nice change from the standard American artwork featuring the zombie's head rising up from below and representing the dawn of a new dominant race on Earth!

Fair enough, it may be an iconic illustration but you can get too much of a good thing and personally i'm getting sick of seeing it!
The gas mask equivalent will make a welcome alternative imo and well done to all involved.

Well guys 'n' gals we finally have the artwork for you all to cast your critical eye over. This has without doubt been the toughest pack art I've ever been involved in and it's caused all sorts of hair-tearing from Rick at his easel, the lovely people at design agency Aitch and the long-suffering Sarah at Arrow whom I've been torturing with packaging options.

I hope... you'll all agree it was worth it. One thing I'm confident of is that there should be something for everyone. Now for this bit pay attention as it's important!

The discs will be housed in a Blu-ray case that can hold 3 discs. This case will fit into a card slipcase. On the back of the slipcase you'll get the usual back of pack stuff - the front of the slipcase will have a window cut out of it - the same size as the rectangular artwork space you'll be familiar with on the last three Arrow DVDs. In effect this cut out will mean the front of the slipcase forms a frame for the artwork that's on the sleeve inside the Blu-ray case.

So... with that in mind we're not going to have a back of pack on the normal sleeve that sits in the Blu-ray - instead when you pull the case out and turn it over the rear will contain another piece of artwork, pull out the sleeve and flip it over and you get another two artworks to potentially display.

In short - instead of two artworks to choose from - you'll now have four!

So here's the first. This is a brand new painting by Rick Melton - it's actually the second one - we tackled some of the ideas on this thread and tried to make it work but for some reason it wasn't gelling so Rick after weeks of work started another painting which we think is another fine and superbly atmospheric addition to the world of Dawn of the Dead artwork. Firstly I'll show you this in a 3D representation to so you can see the outer slipcase packaging:

Now if you were then to pull out the Blu-ray case it would then look like:

Moving on if you then flipped the case over and re-inserted it into the slipcase you'd get the following from design agency Aitch who make the Arrow Video range look so lovely, clean and retro have been working on a number of 'modern' takes on Dawn of the Dead and here is the one we all thought was the best - a subtle, but powerful reworking of some of the classic artwork:

So moving on you then pull out the Blu-ray case once again, pull out the sleeve and flip it over and re-insert the case front side into the slipcase you'd get this well-recognised classic artwork:

And then finally (Cult Labs members might be worrying by now...) you then pull out the case again, flip it over and reinsert it to display the backside and that is the gasmask artwork dug up by Steveoj and very nicely shown off in a 2D interpretation of his own and then reworked into a tasty 3D version by Stuartmcc - the overall effect being that most people on here seemed to like it best so for Cult Labs members - here's your side!

Many thanks to all of the contributions here on this thread - I hope everyone finds something in this selection box of artwork that they'll enjoy - it's been a long road but finally this beast is taking shape!
