Will COTLD continue the tradition of the 4 sides artwork or is that reserved for the Dead movies?

That was my first exposure to the film anyway. I prefer it to The Beyond.
I too prefer City to The Beyond, and I have been reliably informed that the old Inter-Light VHS release was, in fact, the full UK cinema print (the head drilling was the only sequence which was censored).Zombie Flesh-Eaters, House by the Cemetery and The Beyond suffered far worse at the hands of the BBFC.

Yes the head drilling scene was the only UK cinema cut. The later video versions were absolutely shredded.

This may be because those three were labelled as 'video nasties' in the UK and subsequently banned, whereas City of the Living Dead surprisingly avoided the list.

In terms of actual cuts length the heaviest cut cinema film out of the 4 was narrowly The Beyond (1 min 49 secs to Zombie Flesh Eaters 1 min 46).

Videowise City Of The Living Dead ended up with longer cuts than both of them, though House By The Cemetery ended up topping the lot (7½ mins cut at one point).

This, my friends, is reason enough to show what a fiasco the whole video era was. Ugh. Such a great film tarnished for years for what? The personal taste of a minority - Sickens me.

Yes it was completely ridiculous. Looking at the full cuts details to films such as The Evil Dead, Evilspeak, Nightmare City, Nights Of Terror, the above Fulci titles etc it seemed as if Ferman solely intended to remove literally every scene of gore & violence. However minimal.

By the time he'd finished, most of these films were pretty much eligible for a 15 rating.
