Yes, but even though people disliked the Inferno cover (the sleazy arse, rubbish font etc.) when you get down to it, the cover does in fact depict a scene (one of the most famous) from the film.

The BoB cover on the other hand, paints a picture of an entirely different movie. Seriously, if you removed the title and posted it randomly on the net and asked people to guess which film this picture represented, I'm betting you wouldn't get many answers that said Bay of Blood.

It's a great piece of art, but the link to BoB is so tenuous that it's completely invisible.

I would imagine that a very high percentage of Inferno sales are people who knew the movie/director/AV and only a few were totally blind buys based on the cover.

Like Argento, Bava has a strong enough name recognition that there's likely to be just as many sales based on those things alone. Sure, the odd one or two people might pick it up, read the box (cause you know the back isn't gonna say "Octopus goes on killing rampage, uncut for the first time") and wonder where an octopus is gonna fit in a giallo/slasher, but I'd hazard a guess that people familiar enough with the AV releases will not be disappointed.

Edit: Love the second cover. Kinda wish Mr Savage had done a play on that one, but I do like what he's done.

Cult Labs is your forum for telling cult labels what you think of their releases, and what you'd like to see more of. We don't tolerate personal attacks or vulgarity however. If you can't be constructive, you can't post here. As virtually every other member manages this we feel this is fair and the best way to move steadily towards the better and better releases fans deserve.

THAT is brilliant.

I've never seen this film, but I will pick it up. Is it a slasher type movie?
