Bit harsh! But I did think along a similar line when I read his tweet to be honest - if a film director who is surely very technically-minded and passionate when it comes to horror films has nothing but good things to say about the release (and who doesn't have to say anything at all at the end of the day) then surely that's worth about a hundred of people sitting with a notepad and paper scratching their chins while going on about contrast, artifacting, blocking, smeariness etc.

It wasn't Eli Roth - one of the Arrow fanboys (or sheep) hijacked his Twitter account. That's the only explanation.

That's how it should be -- read reviews for guidance but don't treat them as gospel. Just as opinions on films will differ from person to person, opinions on grain, colour balance and brightness levels were similarly change from reviewer to reviewer and consumer to consumer.

Eee, grain, I'll grant you that's a personal preference, but things like colour balance and brightness are an exact science, and some people will have paid good money to have their equipment calibrated. Certainly anyone reviewing movies for picture quality should have calibrated equipment, otherwise they won't know if what they're seeing is on the disc or the result of their settings - that's obvious, surely.

It seems like this is another release to avoid. Shame. I wonder if Arrow will ever get another penny out of me?
