I can't even remember that! I seem to recall reading the novel about 30 years ago.

This new Arrow edition has a longer running time. Was the old release submitted in a pre-cut version?

The version submitted to the BBFC for this release was uncut. I don't know the status of previous versions and what the BBFC and/or the distributor did to secure an 18 certificate then.

Cheers, Nos. Great to know it's the full uncut edition. I'll be buying this one.

I believe Vipco's early '90s VHS release of Midnight was missing the pre-opening credits scene of the young girl caught in a Mantrap. However, this moment was evident in Intervision's pre-VRA version if i recall rightly. |

The Intervision version was cut. As far as DVDs go, the US Lionsgate release is fully uncut. Its only a cheapie. There is a gorgeous Scandinavian VHS release which utilises Gray Morrow's original artwork for the US theatrical poster. It took me a while to track this down. Morrow, famous for both his comic book and science fiction paperback cover art, really captured all elements of the film in this piece. What I particularly liked was the focus on Lawrence Tierney as centrepiece. Morrow also designed the artwork for several other Independent International releases for Sam Sherman. |
