Demons 1 or 2?

I think the only questions that should be asked when watching the Demons movies is "How great was that?"

There are all kinds of things I could suggest - the pilots were attacked by demons so it crashed (which is true but why into the cinema? Why not? OK then) or - my pet theory - the evil emanating from the cinema is in all directions including upwards and this brings down the helicopter as it flies over head.

Ultimately though, the reason for it is that it is the greatest, most wonderful deus ex machina in 80s horror cinema which displays a lot of nerve on the part of the film-makers and a tremendous sense of humour.

In short, because it was cool!

Oh right. Maybe if I'd been having more fun up to that point it would've worked for me. But I wasn't. So it didn't . . .

...glad I stuck around for the sequel - I liked Demons 2 Kind of like Yuppie-[Rec]. It was clear they were having more fun with the effects this time - demon child, demon gremlin, haunted telly... the characters were much less annoying, the soundtrack didn't totally suck, the action was more varied. Good stuff! One question, did I miss something - what was the point of those characters driving around outside? They were introduced, had a car accident, then...nothing? Is there another version where they meet up with the survivors???

Thought, like the first one, the ending was a bit weak. Think both films needed a kind of 'final boss' uber demon to fend off and end with a bang. All this one had was the easiest childbirth in the history of cinema (even more amazing given the woman didn't even look pregnant!)...

Part 2 is like demons lite and the demon dog is some of the poorest cheap jack effects i've seen

For me the first is the better film. Though I enjoy the sequel and it seemed even better when I saw the Arrow BD.

The first though, I think it's a perfect tongue-in-cheek popcorn action horror film. My only issue being the appalling music on the soundtrack. Demons 2 has a vastly superior soundtrack.

Interestingly, I think Demons is the better movie, but I still like Demons 2 better.

I like them both equally, they're both great.

I know that doesn't give rise to much discussion, but hey. That's how it goes.
