Awesome! There's a chapter on the little seen sci-fi comedy Kinvig. I used to bang on about that every Network sale but nobody took any notice and actually bought the thing. |
1 Attachment(s) Just bought this from the Works, there’s reviews of a few films from each year of the decade and it’s practically a list of all my favourite 80’s films, well worth the price  Attachment 215853 |
Can you take a random page pic, please Rik? Helen O'Hara is an Empire mag writer by the way. |

I could not hold out any longer. I had to have it. A concrete block so big it comes in a case with a handle. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/rjkAA...rlF/s-l640.jpg |
1 Attachment(s) Just finished this book. I could not put it down. I thought it was awesome and cannot wait for the next volume. The series will mainly cover the Original Trilogy so that's me sold. The Star Wars Historical Sourcebook: Volume One: 1971-1976: Attachment 216372 In this unique, multi-volume resource for serious Star Wars fans, historian W.R. Miller presents a complete chronological account of the Star Wars cinematic franchise, from 1971-1990. This first volume covers 1971-1976, with a foreword by Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz. Part narrative, part oral history, part exhaustive reference, the Star Wars Historical Sourcebook draws upon dozens of interviews with Star Wars cast, crew, and the cadre of supporters who promoted the films, wrote the novelizations, and worked behind-the-scenes with George Lucas to bring a galaxy far, far away to a theatre near you. Miller includes hundreds of excerpts from books, newspaper articles, and magazines, with annotated references, copious notes, and introductory articles for each year. For those who want to know everything about how Star Wars was conceived, filmed, and promoted, this is the only book you’ll need. "This historical sourcebook is an extraordinarily complete work, annotating almost everything that has been written about the original Star Wars Trilogy (now called Episodes 4, 5, and 6). I have personally found this sourcebook very useful for my own research into questions I am asked in interviews. Bob Miller has done a monumental job on this sourcebook and any true Star Wars fan or scholar must have this work in their collection." — Gary Kurtz, Producer, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back |
1 Attachment(s) Industrial Light & Magic Presents: Making Solo: A Star Wars Story Attachment 216558 Basically, what this book is, is visual effects supervisor Rob Bredow's photo diary of the making of SOLO. Tons of phots of locations, set design and CGI enhancements with text about how the various shots were achieved. It is what is says on the cover.. ILM's making of SOLO. Not the making if SOLO with all the s**t storm going on behind the scenes at Lucasfilm. As such, this is pretty straightforward but you can't help but cringe at all the backslapping and sickly sweet comments at how fantastic ILM are and how no challenge was too great. Maybe the Emperor Kathleen Kennedy was looking over his shoulder for this one! |

I don't know if they still do that - have authors sign extra copies to sell in the store afterwards |

Not that either of them will ever be on Ebay. |

Yeah, there was no mention of them being signed when I preordered weeks ago so this is a nice little bonus |

I generally wake up to two emails. The first saying your order has been shipped (usually timed very late at night) and the second saying your order is out for delivery. Never says any approx delivery times on them. That's the beauty of Prime eh? |

For the Devil sends the beast with wrath Because he knows the time is short Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast For it is a human number Its number is six hundred and ninety nine. ;) I no longer have my book. I took my mum to the hospital this morning for a six monthly chat with a specialist and when we got back for a quick cuppa it was behind the door. Mum being nosey asked what it was then said it would make a nice Christmas gift. I asked her to check the number and the autograph were present and correct, and now it's gone. Not to be seen until Christmas Day. I now know i'm getting something awesome this Christmas. :presents: |
Ordered.. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...ad&oe=5E540AF1 Many agree that it was the quality of Hammer’s sets that distinguished them from their rivals as their ornate castle interiors with their bold exteriors gave the impression the films had much bigger budgets than they had. Production designer Bernard Robinson and his art director Don Mingaye steered the art department at Hammer’s home at Bray Studios from 1956 to 1966 and, when Robinson finally left Hammer in 1969, Scott MacGregor took over the department for their Elstree and Pinewood based programmes from 1969-73. From The Quatermass Xperiment (1954) to To the Devil a Daughter (1975) we take a film by film look at the work of the art department including the mattes and models provided by the SPFX team that enhanced the sets and added to the art department’s vision. 360 sumptuous colour pages Signed and numbered collector’s edition limited to only 700 copies. Largest collection of Bernard Robinson/Don Mingaye’s original drafted designs (floor plans and elevations) ever printed in a single publication, many restored for the first time. Largest collection of Scott MacGregor’s concept design set paintings ever printed in a single publication, many colour ones published for the first time and full paged. Largest collection of schedules, call sheets and progress reports ever published and discussed showing the designation of sets on stages and the order they were used. Rare and exclusive photos of the capsizing of the ship in The Devil Ship Pirates, some published for the first time. Only available direct from Wayne. https://peverilpublishing.co.uk/hammers-grand-designs/ |
