Did Deodato film the Last Road To Hell sequence himself or is it footage from something else incorporated into the movie?

I imagine it was edited together from real news footage that was picked up from around the world, if not just in Italy. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Its a mixture of staged footage by Deodato and news reel footage from South Africa etc.

No, Deodato didn't completely film The Last Road to Hell sequence (some of it includes real execution footage).

He apparently only added it to force similarties between CH and Gualtiero Jacopetti's Mondo movies.

Thanks for that. I thought that it might of been pinched from a Jacopetti/Prosperi atrocity.

He admitted most of it was staged so he must have shot it.

Some of it comprises of execution footage from Nigeria etc. as you say, but yes he did splice in some of his own footage.

While on topic about Last Road To Hell, EC were the first company to feature the full sequence of that from a digital restoration that was not from the original negative.
Not 100% sure but they might have kept the rights to the restoration but then it was added in the AWE release and as extras on the US and Aussy release.

Who thinks Shameless will include the whole sequence or not?
BBFC did not cut anything from LRTH if im correct.

It is a very clever piece of filmmaking and one that adds a great deal to the viewing experience, even with 10 seconds removed.

Great news, looking forward to this! I have an uncut version with the animal cruelty, frankly I always fast forward through that foul stuff, it's not really defendable, but rhen that's old news.
