Art of the Nasty is my favourite source in regards to what made the nasty list. Perhaps if The Evil Dead had been released uncut it may have made the 39 but instead it was the UK cinema version that was released. This was the version that I originally saw.

From what I recall the pre-cert of House By The Cemetery was also the cut cinema version, yet it still ended up as an official nasty.

Yes, Vince, the Vampix pre-cert was the toned down cinema version - which makes it all the more of a coup to have it available here fully uncut at last. Nice one, Arrow.

One I was quite surprised never made the nasties list was Superstition (aka The Witch).

Yeah, me too. I always supposed (I have no grounds for this!) that its general air of competence and bright, glossy "Hollywoodness" went in its favour. For a low budget Canadian film it aims high and, for the most part, achieves it.

Did'nt Beyond Bedlam cause a stir with the press in the 90's.? I know it wasn't on any list but I remember some newspaper reporting on it and complaining about the BBFC at the time. |

Passed uncut for cinema but 17 secs were cut from the video. Would pass uncut today if resubmitted (the DVD is the cut video print).
