PMSL...I hated it! The pillock filming the bag and the intended reading of the bilge. Mendes and his tepid arse covering treatment of the Kevin Spacey / Mena Suvari scenes. Uuuurrrrghhh!

It's certainly not without its faults, and isn't particularly strong with repeated viewings, but Mendes' use of mise-en-scène and the performances by (particularly) Kevin Spacey, Annette Bening and Chris Cooper are pitch perfect.

Only seen it once and was so annoyed by its condescending pretentions that all the technical nuance and prowess in the world couldn't redeem it in my misanthropic eyes!

I've seen it several times and I'm still not sure whether Ricky is supposed to be overtly pretentious or not.

In defence of Mendes, Road to Perdition was excellent.

And that's all I have.

WTF?! That had Jude Law to add to its transgressions didn't it?!

You going to hate me for this, but I've warmed to Jude Law. He was better than Robert Downey Jr in Sherlock Holmes, and he was great in Repo Men (which I know many hate but I genuinely like it).

And he was good in Road to Perdition. There was something very reptile like in his performance.

I hear you...however so much of the rest of the running time IS that it really wouldn't matter if there was some postmodern limp nod toward Ricky being a total f@&got in the Louis CK non homophobic use of the word.
