I think I've had the "pleasure" of seeing 'Cannibals'. If I remember it correctly, it's the one with the very un-native looking cannibals, chewing on extremely fake looking entrails, whilst trying (and failing) to keep a straight face. All in glorious slow-motion.

A quick question about "Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid". I love this film but I've only ever had off air recordings from the BBC. How have the BBFC responded to the chicken shooting gallery over the years? It never looked fake to me and is also in TV prints.

The BBFC 'site only mentions the cockfight and the horsefall. Is burying chikcens up to their necks and blowing their heads off somehow more acceptable in some way?

The chicken scene probably passed because it was judged to be a quick kill.

I haven't seen the film by the way.

Its a good film, but that scene is horrible. There are several chickens buried up to their necks in sand and the billy and his mates start blowing their heads off. The camera is really close and some of it is in slow motion.

I read in Empire that the chickens kept falling asleep, so Peckinpah had lighter fluid squirted into their eyes so they would stay awake and face the camera.

The chicken scene was never cut for cinema either. As Angel says the BBFC probably passed it as it was deemed a quick kill.

Peckinpah was never known for his fondness of animals. A scorpion was burned alive in The Wild Bunch and a lizard was shot in Ballad Of Cable Hogue. Neither of which have ever suffered BBFC animal cruelty cuts.

The lizard in Cable Hogue was already dead, its made up from parts of other lizards that where killed in the previous takes.

One of the crew member started a campain called 'Save the Gilla Monsters'.

What's the deal with the cat eating the mouse in Inferno? That's what cats do...David Attenborough's lot show footage like that and it wins awards!

I have never understood the reasoning behind that cut.
