It's a film that gets better with subsequent viewings, once you know it's not as good as some of Argento's other early gialli. I think it's very good, I'd much rather re-watch FOUR FLIES than any of Argento's post-STENDHAL output.

Think I'm going with:

1. Deep Red
2. BWCP
3. FLOGV
4. CONT

Next time, try watching it without being on the Internet at the same time!

Yeah that's what I nearly went with. 1 & 2 are pretty much on par. The only definite is Cat O'Nine Tails in last place, find it as dull as Rik seems to find Four Flies . . .

Now for me, I find FFoGV to be duller than CoNT simply because it doesnt have the awsome Karl Malden in it. Also it was my first ever Giallo, Argento, and Arrow title. Kinda biased then. Oh, but what a finale kill!

I saw CAT before BIRD and FLIES but after DEEP RED. It's one that I've been meaning to rewatch, actually but I've seen it twice (via the Warner home Video UK rental tape and Anchor Bay US DVD, respectively).

I love Argento's so called 'Animal trilogy'.

That final scene in Four Flies is abrupt,a boot in the yarbles, but most of all incredibly beautiful.

Cat piles on the suspense I think due to the hero being blind.
A great move casting Karl Malden.

Bird is the film I've least watched.

However,Deep Red is the one all his other films need to match up to!

Ditto me with Four Flies - I worked with Michael Brandon once and he was really cool . . .
