I received my copy of Killer Constable yesterday in typically sturdy packaging from 88 Films. The slipcase and other artwork looks great and I hope to watch it tomorrow – probably twice including the Bey Logan commentary.

This morning I used some Amazon vouchers to order the Shout! Factory Collector's Edition releases of The Thing and The Return of the Living Dead and had a shipping confirmation email to say the DVD box set of The Tick vs. Season Two* is now on its way to me.

The Love Witch and Starsky & Hutch just been delivered during Sunday lunchtime. Funny old world innit?

Been looking forward to LW for a couple of months, so hope it isn't a disappointment.

Is that the Starsky & Hutch film with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson or a boxset of the TV show?

I adored The Love Witch since i saw it at Frighfest last year and have seen it a couple more times since and need to pick up the blu-ray. The trouble is when something is hyped up it never lives up to expectations and The Love Witch is certainly not going to be to everyone's taste but i hope you enjoy it like i did.

The boxset. The film is pretty poor IMO!

I didn't like the film either, but haven't seen any of the TV show so I have no point of reference. It was the same for Miami Vice.

Well, the series is not a comedy like the film is. It contains humour and gets more light-hearted as it goes on, but it's a pretty much straight-up cop show.

Demdike@Cult Labs 12th March 2017 05:47 PM

I love the series of Starsky and Hutch and also enjoyed the film. Yes it's a comedy but so what?

When i compare it to the oh so serious movie of Miami Vice which is a bona fide bore-a-thon based on another series i loved.

I'd take Snoop Dog and co every time.

Thats just personal opinion though.

So what indeed. I was pointing out to Nos (who hasn't seen either) that the series is not a comedy like the film. Comment on whether that is a positive or negative on either product was neither expressed or implied by myself.

So belt up.

Telling people to belt up is not on, Deadite.

SymbioticFunction 13th March 2017 12:50 PM

Ordered a Peter Cushing film, Doctor Who: Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 AD. Bought it with the last of my birthday money. I have strong nostalgia for this film as I recall enjoying it immensely when I was just a little boy. I suspect that Dr Who purists are probably a little bit sniffy about the two Cushing films as they portray the titular character as a doddery old inventor rather than an actual timelord but that really doesn't bother me. Invasion Earth is easily the better of the two films and I am looking forward to a high definition viewing, will be a lot of fun. :)

Invasion Earth is great fun, Cushing is fine for a 60s era Doctor Who, anything with the Daleks in is okay by me...

(now I'll have dig out my DVD double pack of the films and give em a watch.)

It could be argued that the Peter Cushing Doctor IS a Time Lord, but he has used a device similar to the one used in the television stories 'Human Nature'/'Family Of Blood' and he simply doesn't remember what/who he is

Or maybe I just made that up!

Either way, both the '60's Doctor Who films are good fun and highly entertaining

I ordered it from here because it comes with a few more extra bits and pieces.http://https://www.andertons.co.uk/P/PPGREEP4NACH1UK/acoustic-guitar-starter-packs/epiphone-pr4e-electro-acoustic-player-pack

Looks very nice, Rik

How does it feel and play? Chloe is looking for a 'cheap' acoustic guitar set-up. Is it a good one for a beginner?

It plays and sounds really nice, I have no need for the amp, but I plugged it in to make sure everything was working and with or without it, it's a decent sounding guitar. For the price, I wasn't expecting much but I'd say it's worth a bit more than the £149 RRP (I paid £155 because it came with some extras like a set of strings, gig bag and tuner worth £40).
I got the last one it seems from the place I linked earlier, but if you search "Epiphone PR-4E" it'll bring up other places that sell it from just under £150
