One of the best things ever! The ability to turn off the overscan on a tv so you can see the bars at the sides on a 1.66:1 film. :D

I actually really liked the colourized versions they did in the Ray Harryhausen box set.

Earth vs the Flying Saucers
20 Million Miles to Earth
It Came from Beneath The Sea

The beauty of them is that you can flick from colour to black and white during playback using the angle button.

Every time i watch them i just switch colours all the time.

I would show caps to show you but VLC Player doesn't have an angle button anywhere.

I very much like the colourized version of The Mark of Zorro (1940). One of the very rare cases where I choose the colourized version over the original black and white.

Greetings!

This week's arrivals.

That will be it for a few weeks now. (except my preorder of Doctor Who The Ace Adventures)

BAKA 5th May 2012 03:00 PM

Murder Obsession is region free, yeah? Does it come with a slipcase, out of interest?

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 5th May 2012 03:20 PM

Murder Obsession is indeed region free.

No slipcover or reversible artwork, but it does come with a booklet.

Yeah, mine is region free, but there is no slipcase.

It is region free, so don't worry about not being to play it on a Region B player.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 5th May 2012 03:49 PM

Some nice pick-ups there, Dem.

Eyes of a Stranger and Tourist Trap are particularly good.

bdc 5th May 2012 04:08 PM

I really like Amok Train as well.

oaxaca 5th May 2012 04:28 PM

Not much will hold up in comparison to I Saw The Devil to be honest, you kinda started at the top ;)
Don't think there is a site to compare side by side but what you could do is open two internet pages up at the same time and have them side by side then google image search 'The Signal DVD screenshots' and 'The Signal Blu-ray screenshots' or something like that for each page. That might work.....maybe

Andra Jai 5th May 2012 05:20 PM

A wonderful presentation of one my favourite (probably my favourite non-Argento) gialli. Enjoy!

God, that reminds me I ordered that from HorrorMovieEmpire earlier this year. Should probably re-order from a more reputable source.

Ditto. It's one of those I ordered from Horror Movie Empire but haven't yet ordered from another, reliable, retailer.

I searched pretty thoroughly before ordering and found the cheapest price to be £12.20 inc. shipping on amazon.co.uk marketplace :)

Kyle 5th May 2012 06:33 PM

That Tenebrae poster adrones my wall thanks to my cousin and Profondo Rosso.

Refused 5th May 2012 06:38 PM

Nice selection there! Hobo With A Shotgun looks great, and has some pretty cool extras too.

keirarts 5th May 2012 06:45 PM

Well, still waiting on an e-mail from bill on how much its going to cost for these dvd's... i've never yet had so much trouble GIVING SOMEONE MY MONEY! Seriously its a big order, I want the discs and i have the cash sitting in my bank waiting to be paypal'd to him....

I give it a couple more days then i'm saying screw it and spending the money on axel. Beginning to realise now why code red had so many financial troubles.

Not very good is it?

It wouldn't surprise me if it ended up another HME situation in the long term as they obviously can't deal with orders or customer care as a direct supplier.

If direct is the way they are going they will need to pull their finger out as reputations are gained quickly and can prove difficult to shake off especially in light of the HME fiasco. People just won't bother with them.

bdc 5th May 2012 07:37 PM

Bill is pretty much a one man operation and it's weekend as well... ;)
I don't see why you would compare CR with HME (who are basically crooks) Dem...just because Bill doesn't answer a mail right away...

Will post pictures when all four arrive.

keirarts 5th May 2012 09:14 PM

Worry over. Agreed to do 9 at a time. So I just forked out 84 dollars including postage.

(and yes, I gave address including united kingdom as usual)

my code red collection should be a bit larger soon.

Sorry that was a little extreme really.

But if thats the way CR are moving (direct selling) then its issues such as not replying to emails about £100+ orders which need sorting. Especially if no - one else stocks their product.

Just teething problems i'm sure though. :)

A little unfair. Horror movie empire were all too keen to take my money they just didn't want to supply the discs!. I hope bills company gets back on its feet as code red is a fantastic label.

Maybe you were also a little unfair. :)

Not to dwell. :focus:

Is No Orchids for Miss Blandish a noir, can't say i've heard of it?

perhaps, but then i've been trying to get more code red discs for months with zero luck. Everywhere sold out and prices skyrocketing. If bill started listing the discs himself on amazon.com/.co.uk at twice the price he wants via direct mail he could make quite a bit of cash. As someone who does a bit of online trading myself (mainly to pay for dvd's/blus) I'm a one man band and it can be difficult but then thats something I have to deal with. If someone wants to buy something off me I reply immediately as I want the cash!

No orchids is indeed a noir, quite a nast one for its age by all acounts. Some of the reviews on the back sleeve have vitriol i've not seen since serbain film or human centipede 2!
