It has to be said that Marshall's Hellboy heavily benefits from a second viewing as it's easier to make note of the positive aspects of the film. Plus I do like films with apocalyptic scenes taking place in the UK. I'm not sure what I would award the film, maybe 3.25 out of 5 would be a fair score? The tonal shift from the much classier del Toro films is quite jarring on the first watch and it's probably no surprise that Hellboy 2019 was so badly received. |
