Have you seen Deep Impact before, Mr.B?

I've seen it the one time, at the cinema. We were in fits of laughter as the asteroid hit.

Love to read what you make of it.

Very surprised to find a copy of 'Mondo Cane' (1962) in a charity shop this morning - £0:50p. It's a Scandinavian release, but apparently it has English subtitles

""All the scenes you will see in this film are true. If they are shocking, it is only because there are many shocking things in this world..." With those words, Directors Gualtiero Jacopetti, Paolo Cavara and Franco Prosperi unleashed the international sensation that stunned critics and moviegoers alike while revolutionizing the documentary genre forever. Filmed in every corner of the world, this landmark epic explores the culture of life and death, the anguish of man and beast, and the taboos of sex and religion, all amidst the barbarism of civilization gone insane. Sometimes beautiful, often horrifying yet always surprising, it remains one of the most disturbing and controversial films of our time. This is the original 'Shockumentary' that started it all. This is Mondo Cane. Mondo Cane (Italian for "Dog's World") also features a brilliant score by Nino Oliviero and Riz Ortolani that includes the Oscar -nominated theme song "More."..ENGLISH OR ITALIAN AUDIO OPTIONS.."

New arrivals. Thanks to MrBarlow for grabbing me the copy of Pony Express seeing as my ancient PC couldn't check out of the SignalOne website.

I decided to take the plunge on The League of Gentlemen and Countess Dracula seeing as Amazon were selling them at the same prices the now defunct Network did. They won't be around forever so didn't want to waste the chance and never own them on Blu. Especially seeing as the dvd of The League of Gentlemen i own is an NTSC print which doesn't look great on a modern screen.

I didn't find Mondo Cane as grim as I imagined when i watched it a few years ago.
Still it's a good find for a charity shop these days.

I found the soundtrack about 6 years back in a charity shop.

Also found a Africa Addio dvd in a charity shop around the same time, now that is a pretty grim Mondo.

Saw this years ago on Film4 and remember really liking it.

Saw this at the pics and didn't think much of it but got it for £2.50 for both R and Unrated cuts so I'll give it another shot.

American 4K UHD sets of Michele Soavi's The Church and The Sect arrived today. They were quite pricey so have been wrapped up as my 50th birthday gift for the start of March. Will watch The Church on my birthday. I debated whether to import them but decided that I want all Dario Argento 4K UHDs that are available. Apart from co-writing, my understanding is that Argento was an extremely hands on producer (I've seen photos of him tweaking things on set or location). Also a blu-ray of Sleepy Hollow arrived, will watch with headphones when my wife goes to bed.
